before seed oils were invented, everybody was hot and healthy...

less than 10% of people were obese vs 40% today and CVD was nonexistent

but in the last 100 years, seed oil consumption has increased 20 TIMES and so has disease

here are studies showing why I don't eat them:

The primary driver of our increase in oil consumption has been soybean oil, which has increased 1160x since 1909

Since its introduction in 1980, canola oil consumption has increased almost 200 times

this has been disastrous for our health

I mean cmon, this should be self explanatory people

In terms of caloric consumption since 1909, pretty much the only things we've increased consumption of have been these oils and chicken

beef, sugar, grains, butter...all these have decreased in consumption or have stayed the same

What is this doing to us?

ROSE CORN OIL

This was the first ever dietary substitution trial of saturated fat for corn oil. What were the results?

The corn oil group had DOUBLE the rate of heart attacks despite lowering cholesterol

Authors recommend against corn oil for the treatment of heart disease

SYDNEY HEART HEALTH

458 men with heart disease were studied over 5 years

one group consumed 9% PUFA, the other group consumed 15%

both groups decreased their cholesterol but those on the high PUFA diet had a 40 PERCENT higher mortality rate...

LA VETERANS

This was a double blind trial on veterans in LA where their cafeteria swapped out the fats they cooked with

Vegetable oils slightly decreased the risk of heart disease but almost DOUBLED the risk of cancer

This was the case even though there were 2X as many heavy smokers in the saturated fat group...

Meaning it may have been the smoking that contributed to the heart disease, whereas saturated fat protected against the cancer

The reason why this study is so great is because it is one of the only ones that lasted LONG enough to see the seed oils accumulate in fat tissue, and ultimately degrade into carcinogenic byproducts

MINNESOTA CORONARY EXPERIMENT

Gold standard randomized controlled trial on 9400 people showed that PUFAs lowered serum cholesterol

But for every 30 mg/dL reduction, there was a "22% higher risk of death"

This study was buried for 40 years

ALZHEIMERS

For the last 60 years our entire dietary edifice has been myopically focused on heart disease...but what else are these seed oils doing to the rest of the body?

Studies on animals are incredibly disturbing, showing genetic changes to the brain linked to alzheimers

On top of this, HNE, a byproduct of seed oil peroxidation is almost always found in the plaques of alzheimers patients

OBESITY

When mice eat 8% of their diet from linoleic acid, like we do today, it causes them to get the munchies, eat more calories and get fat.

Seed oils are giving people the munchies

Another way seed oils may be increasing obesity is via disrupting the krebs cycle and ATP production

4hne disrupts aconitase, causes a decrease in ATP generation, increase in hunger and fatty acid synthesis

Last but not least, our metabolisms have declined by about 200 calories a day and according to this study this is sufficient to explain the obesity epidemic

One reason why, they hypothesize, is because the seed oils have displaced saturated fat in our diet

Mammals use polyunsaturated fatty acids from things like acorns, seeds and nuts to enter into hibernation, lower body temp and metabolic rate

The same thing may be happening to humans

THYROID

Thyroid is the master controller of our metabolism, and seed oils disrupt its function

In every animal studied, excessive linoleic acid consumption lowers thyroid function.

Polyunsaturated fats also displace the binding of thyroid hormones.

GUT ISSUES

New study showing that PUFAs cause inflammation and are linked to IBD and colitis in mice...one of the fastest growing conditions in humans today

SKIN ISSUES

Topical linoleic acid causes loads of oxidative stress in the UV light

When we eat linoleic acid it is incorporated into our fat and skin tissues, oxidizing in the sun and causing loads of inflammation

ENDOCRINE DISRUPTORS

binding of androgens to the receptor...and they also inhibit 5-AR reductase which converts testosterone to the more potent DHT

another study suggests theyre the biggest endocrine disruptor today by blocking osteocalcin synthesis

SHORTER LIFESPAN

One of the best markers of longeity between different animals is how saturated their mitochondrial membranes are.

A more unsaturated membrane leads to lower metabolism and more breakdown into the toxic, carcinogenic byproducts, and shorter lifespan.

DEPRESSION

Depression is partially an inflammatory disorder

This meta analysis linked high omega 6 to omega 3 intake to inflammation and depression

once you eat seed oils and they are stored in your fat tissue, they remain for over 4 YEARS...

linoleic acid content in human fat tissue has increased almost 4 TIMES to 23 PERCENT of our body fat

explains so much sickness

All of the remaining healthiest populations in the world today consume little to NO seed oils

The tokelau, the maasai, hadza, tsimane...

Meanwhile there is NO healthy population in the world who consumes a diet high in seed oils
