These are statements and actions by those who lead Israeli society and as defined by Additional Protocol I (Article 86(2)) to the Geneva Conventions of 1949 can be perceived as having ‘command responsibility’. The following statements and actions have been carried out by influential elites who are pro-Zionist. They include non-ministerial politicians (both within the Knesset and including places such as the US). They also include people who can have their opinions published in leading newspapers (both as journalists or thought leaders) and can be invited to voice their opinions in media. As such they have power and influence and can often operate in a grey area between formal and informal modes of power. There are also several inclusions of singers on this list as they meet the afore mentioned criterion of being in the public eye. Opinions published here are generally radicalising and may be perceived as either dehumanising; pro-ethnic cleansing; or of genocidal intent.

Militants in Mann’s phraseology are those who carry out dehumanising, genocidal or ethnic cleansing actions. As such this following list consists of a large number of both statements and actions. The focus is not on regular acts of war, but of statements and actions that represent intent beyond regular warfare. These statements and actions would not be tolerated in modern militaries adhering to the rule of law and as such represent extremities in dehumanisation, genocidal intent and ethnic cleansing. There are some extreme cases in this list. Some cannot be verified due to Gaza being an active war zone. Yet others have video evidence. Members on this list especially include IDF soldiers and police.

In Mann’s phraseology, core constituencies create an atmosphere that provides both tacit and explicit support for dehumanisation, genocidal intent, and ethnic cleansing. This can be through normalising such language and opinions. It will also include popularising and the sharing of hateful thoughts and in the modern era, memes and figures of speech. It is vital that genocidal intent is not merely understood as a top-down phenomenon. If that were the case, there would be no popular support or impetus for it. Rather the three groups interact with one another in complex ways and can erupt into extremes in the right circumstances. In this list, examples which indicate a febrile atmosphere that could be conducive to ethnic cleansing, genocidal intent, and dehumanisation are provided.

Modern Zionism is considered to have started in 1897. The history of Zionism is filled with racist, dehumanising, pro-ethnic cleansing and pro-genocidal rhetoric. Parts 1-4 of the PDF focuses mainly on a tiny part of this conflict - Statements and actions in Gaza since October 2023. This PDF will continue to be updated as long as necessary.
Zionism Observer will have a different and larger focus, eventually encompassing the entirety of Zionism's history from 1897 onwards.

This is a massive work but it is designed to help everyone research and explore the rhetoric surrounding Zionism and what led us to our situation today. We will only focus on direct quotes and other direct pieces of evidence. This site will always aim to be 100% factual and we will try to maintain that consistency always.

This site is brand-new and is still under development. But we believe in openness and accessibility, so it is already live and available for everyone to use.

We will shortly have a form for submissions and we would encourage everyone to submit reports you have come across. The site already contains an easy search functionality to find quotes and leading personas. As our database grows this will only add to its use.zionism.observer
