⚠️ PFAs from 3M ⚠️

🤬N95, N100, PAPR.🤬

Just found this, so giving you a heads up. Source at end.

On a personal note, I know some of you have some of these, and I am both sorry and livid for you.

P100s have PFAs.
( I have a rack of these.)

/1

PAPR - Versaflo, Powerflow. Read for details.

/2

JFC. 3Ms R, P, and HE filters.

@3M. P100, you greedy jerks?

@NIOSH_TWH @NIOSH - you realize we are going to FOIA you, right? I know you guys read my tweets, so let's get this fixed?

/3

3M’s 7800, 7800B, FF-400, and FF-800.

(I huffed PFAs with P100s, and dodged the bullet on this one so far, as I have the 6800.)

@3M - it's the science of poison, not fluorochemistries.

Did you come up with the PR campaign for @DuPont_News's Teflon, the Happy Pan, as well?

Greedy bastards.

Source for all of this. I almost skipped this because I knew the firefighting gear was contaminated. But thought it was a little long for just one product.

multimedia.3m.com/mws/media/2303…

Back in 2021, Sean Lynch of @3M said that surgical respirators did NOT contain PFAs.

Which sounds like a lie as they are EXACTLY what would work good with PFAs to repel blood, etc

But he DID say that some models of their STANDARD N95s may contain some PFAs in the headbands.

So, at least the PFAs is not in the filtration? But it is concerning that only 3 years later, their PFA document does not mention N95 headbands.

Did they get rid of the PFAs so quickly? When they are not required to until 2025 (and only piecemeal).

eenews.net/articles/face-…

And, of course, this was in 2021 and 2023, long after 3M supposedly began to phase out PFAs in 2000.

Which was touched on in their testimony declaring minimal health effects.👀

I have been a fan of 3M products, and now am a tad shocked.

And the trust is gone.

Anyone have the ability to test Filtrete 1900 for PFAs? 👀

Want to help light a fire under 3M?

Hit their chat up on Monday and ask about your favorite 3M respirator to see if it has PFAs in it.

See what doc they provide you. Let's compare notes

And absolutely great point about all of the respirator companies.

Please reply back here what you hear, try to get some sort of formal document.

Also great point.

But my stance is that I want to avoid them as much as possible.

Just like Covid.

There was a study on the #corsirosenthalbox that showed reduction of PFAs through using the box.

Went back and reread it.

The box in question used Jim's TexAir filters.

Here is a link to his filters:

Here is the article that covers the PFA study that will be easier to read for most.

To clarify- we don't know if 3M filters, Filtrete 1900, have PFAs or not. But are pushing to get them tested.

I personally have 8 of them where I am living, and I am not
brown.edu/news/2022-12-2…

tossing them until someone does test them.

If I need to replace a set before they are tested or @3M replies? I will be buying Jim's filters based on that study.

And here we go.

@marigoldglitter showing the way by hitting the PPE company annual report.

PFAs in the majority of @DraegerNews products. So, Dragger....got PFAs in your respirators? If so, where?

Thank you @profahnhmc!

I've uploaded a copy to Google sheets. Anyone with this link can open it. NO write access granted.

Let's do an example - Aura. Pay attention, please, as I am not going to look up everyone's respirator.

docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d…

Click on 3 dots (the hamburger).
Click Find and Replace.
Type in aura OR the respirator number. To the right in tiny writing it shows 1/1.
If more then 1/2, click on little arrow to jump to each one.

Sorry, folks, we can see the 9211+ Aura is right there.

Scroll to the right

Columns D- F. Labels below.

Aura, 9211+ has "0.01 - 1%" as the "(#1) % PFAS Range"

F029-Flame retardant is the purpose.

Notice Column D?

That is "Date Product No Longer Contains Interntionally-Added PFAS (Reformulation/Discontinuation)".

The blank line means nothing

scheduled. I am sorry.

Not done yet.

Scroll to the right to column K, and check for another vendor, which is the second vendor involved.

Q is 3rd.
W is 4th.
AC is 5th
AI is 6th
AO is 7th

I presume that if there are multiple vendors, they fill in from the left.

Let's check for the Aura 9205.

After clicking on the down button, no 9205 is on this list by either Aura or 9205.

Neither is the 9200, the 8511, the Vflex 9105.

One caveat - it appears that 3M is in the process of discovery. The language used is careful to say they may add

more.

An script could be written to check on the most common respirators and alert if one is added. Just in case someone is feeling frisky.

Went to look for the 6000 series.
Tried 6000. Not clicking 2,070 times.

7000001934 is the MPN. It is NOT ON THE LIST.

So, does this work consistently?

I check the Secure Click FF-802. Yes.

So, if you get too many results look for the "MPN" on web sites. 3M calls it the "SAP Product Code", column B.

So NOT ON THE LIST
6800 elasto,
8511
9200
VFLEX 9105

ON THE LIST
Aura, 9211+

HF-800 secure click not on the list - but many of the filter cartridges are. ("Secure Click").

I WILL NOT BE LOOKING UP ANYBODY'S RESPIRATORS.

Please do not ask me. Please ask each other. Please help each other.

I have not eaten breakfast due to pounding on this, and it is 5 pm.

Waffles for dinner because why not.

@crwequine Just added to the thread how to check the 26K long list of products.

How the heck did @profahnhmc spot this?

Bravo!

(pfas.3m .com/ pfas_uses ) -shove those words together.

contains the sentence "To learn more about 3M products that use PFAS*, click here."
