It started with a warning.

Ukraine wiped out 40% of Russia’s bombers in a surprise strike—and Steve Bannon says the U.S. is now on the brink of getting dragged into World War III.

But the media shrugs. The public sleeps.

Then Bannon went nuclear—calling for two brutal consequences for Senator Lindsey Graham upon returning home from Ukraine.

🧵 THREAD

Steve Bannon didn’t waste time with pleasantries.

Speaking with Chris Cuomo, he opened with a dire warning: the United States is heading toward a global catastrophe, and most Americans have no idea how close we really are.

“Chris, we’re being sucked into a kinetic Third World War right now, that’s going to dwarf the 20th century’s First and Second World War. Inextricably we’ve been drawn in every day,” Bannon said.

The trigger, he argued, was Ukraine’s recent and audacious drone strike deep inside Russian territory—an operation that reportedly destroyed 40% of Russia’s strategic nuclear bombers.

According to Bannon, the attack wasn’t just bold, it was reckless.

“They attacked part of the strategic triad of the Russians… They took out 40% of Russia’s strategic nuclear bombers. This is something Curtis LeMay would never think of.”

But what stunned Bannon even more than the scale of the strike was what didn’t happen: there was no warning.

“What the Ukrainians did, and what the White House has said is that they never got a heads up,” he said.

“It was audacious, it was bold—but we’re sponsoring this. We’re funding it. We’re cutting deals. And now they’re dragging us in.”

That, Bannon warned, could have consequences far beyond Eastern Europe.

“Did they think they can go in and really attack into Russian territory and drag us into conflict with Russia that could metastasize?”

Now, back to the story you came for.

The deeper concern, Bannon explained, is that Americans remain largely unaware of the global forces pulling them toward war.

While the media focuses on domestic distractions, decisions are being made abroad that could change the course of history.

“People are not awake of what is happening throughout the world and how we're being sucked in and supposedly by somebody we support, like Zelenskyy,” he said.

The fact that Ukraine allegedly launched such a provocative strike without consulting Washington was, in Bannon’s words, “outrageous.”

He doubled down on the danger of continuing to back a foreign leader who’s now acting unilaterally, without American oversight or input.

“To know that he never gave the White House heads up. He never asked permission to do this.”

Adding fuel to the fire, Senator Lindsey Graham was in Ukraine the same weekend, publicly reaffirming U.S. support. That, according to Bannon, is only making things worse.

“It's outrageous! And Lindsey Graham all weekend's over there stirring the pot—We can’t have people over there telling Ukrainians that we're going back more.”

In contrast, Bannon said, Donald Trump is trying to de-escalate.

“What we try do is calm this down. What President Trump is trying to say is like, look, let's get to a cease-fire. Let's put our weapons down. Let's talk peace and prosperity.”

Even if there’s disagreement on the economics, Trump views a negotiated settlement as the only realistic way forward.

“We don't support the economic deal. But President Trump is saying that he needs it as a central part of a peace plan.”

Still, none of that matters, Bannon warned, if others are charging forward recklessly.

“We can't have Lindsey Graham and particularly Zelenskyy leading us into a 3rd World War with a deep strike into Russia.”

And Vladimir Putin, he said, is already responding.

“And Putin came back today and said, hey, we're gonna get to the bottom of this and we're going to see who is accountable in Ukraine and beyond. And that was a message to the United States.”

That message wasn’t just rhetorical—it may have real consequences.

And for Bannon, those enabling escalation on the U.S. side shouldn’t get a free pass.

That’s when the conversation went nuclear.

During the exchange, Chris Cuomo pushed back.

“I don't understand how you could want to jail a U.S. Senator because he’s saying something you don't like. That sounds like worst of the deep state.”

But Bannon was ready.

“No, what he's doing over there right now is stirring it up. He's giving the Ukrainians false hope.”

Cuomo countered: “But it’s not illegal.”

“He’s giving Ukrainians false hope that we’re there to support them on engaging Russia on a kinetic conflict, and we are not,” Bannon said firmly.

When Cuomo pressed again, asking if Bannon really believed Graham should be jailed, Bannon unloaded with both barrels.

“Two things ought to happen. Either cancel his passport and don't let him back in the country, or put him in jail if he comes back!”

He added, “Lindsey Graham is stirring it up right now, and people better wake up to the fact that we’re getting sucked into this war!”

The conversation ended where it began—with a chilling reminder that this isn't just politics as usual.

According to Bannon, we’re crossing a line that past generations of military leaders never dared to cross.

“If the intelligence committee actually did this, this is an act of war against Russia.”

He posed a blunt question to NewsNation viewers:

“Did the American people vote to go to war with the Russian people?”

And while the drone strike was tactically impressive, Bannon said it carried massive geopolitical risk.

“This thing is so serious!” he said.

“But look, I'm being serious, Curtis LeMay at the top of the game and during the worst years in the Soviet Union, during the Cuban missile crisis, we never even conceived of going out and taking out 40% of their bombers on runways.”

“The attack was audacious. It was brilliant.”

But brilliance, Bannon warned, can still be catastrophic, and the average American wants nothing to do with this.

“The problem is it gets us involved in a conflict that no one in the United States wants to be part of and it's going to make it tougher for us to break off.”
