ATTRACTIVENESS AND ARTISTIC QUALITY
Attractiveness and artistic quality are different categories, and when it comes to choosing a mate, people don't care about the second one. I'll explain in this thread.
For this thread I'm actually going to propose four categories that correspond to the way we normally talk about visual appeal. "Hot," "beautiful," "artistic," and "interesting."
Contrary to what some people want to believe, there's no contradiction between "beauty" and "hotness." While distinct, these categories mostly overlap.
"Artistic" and "interesting," however, DON'T overlap with "beauty" and "hotness" a whole lot. Most people don't care about them at all so they never bother to consider this. Arty girls, however, can get confused.
AI-girl images like this one don't have high artistic value. But, they can still teach us a lot about beauty, hotness, and seduction.
To explain further I've made a Venn diagram. It may look confusing at first glance, but it's just four overlapping circles. I'll explain the meaning in the next post.
Here are some typical examples of the different areas in the aesthetic space.
The area that's hot, beautiful, artistic, AND interesting is very small. And, to be honest, men don't really care about it. Thankfully they are not so demanding that they actually expect you to squeeze into that space.
Men are happy with girls who look hot and beautiful and don't really care if their look is "interesting." 99% of the time interesting is just bad because it involves sacrifices to hotness and beauty.
Arty girls may get somewhere sacrificing a little hotness to be a little more interesting, but this only works in small amounts on a minority of men.
Looks that are artistic and interesting but not hot or beautiful can be worth contemplating. Just don't confuse this with attractiveness. In practice, they're best left on the canvas.
By chance I wrote this new section yesterday, and lo, today it's come to life with the viral mermaid controversy. The mermaid statue is high in hotness and beauty but low in artistic quality and interest.
Nobody cares about art and most modern public statues are just as bad, so as we all know the real reason people are complaining so loudly is that they're irritated by a public representation of hotness and beauty.
