[Thread] These "oral sex panties" represent everything that's wrong with what @andizeisler calls "marketplace feminism." The concept: They mask your vulva's taste/smell/appearance so you can be "empowered" to "get more oral" and "close the orgasm gap." indiegogo.com/projects/loral…

[2] Their body-shaming campaign video features a woman who is about to get oral sex then remembers she worked out that day and has her period... as if that's a problem?? Do those with penises need vanilla-scented latex too so that their balls smell presentable??

[3] They claim to be "revolutionary." But they are LITERALLY invested in women's oppression continuing. If women felt good about their bodies as they are, they'd have no customers. They want us to believe we need a product that hides our bodies to enjoy sex & be liberated.

[4] The male gaze is all over their Indieogo page. One style is "cut high at the sides to lengthen your legs and show off your cheeks." Another has "moderate coverage in the front and back to maintain your mystique." Because ensuring your butt looks arousing will def help you O.

[5] They don't carry plus sizes and call size 8 and above "curvier." And they repeatedly state that women "say 'no' to oral sex when they want to say 'yes.'" Anyone else getting rapey vibes here??

[6] If they prevented STIs that would actually be cool. But they keep emphasizing that it's not FDA approved for that and is just to prevent your partner from (god forbid) seeing/smelling/tasting your vulva. I SEE YOU, PATRIARCHY.

[7] Also, they say they're designed "for women" & exclude those who have vulvas but don't identify as women — probably because their product is all about meeting conventions of femininity that say women must be dainty, spotless, pure, sweet-smelling, sexy, and hourglass-shaped.

While I'm exposing shitty "#feminist" marketing, here's the horrific story of how a "vag empowerment" spa preyed on my insecurities with a treatment that made my vagina bleed. elle.com/life-love/sex-…

Then there's this sex resort where they "worship" the women...by sexually harassing them. PR people must hate me by now for taking down all their faux-feminist bullshit 😂 elle.com/life-love/sex-…

If you really want to help vulva-owners feel better about their genitals, instead of backing this product, share articles like this one by @TheBowieCat (refinery29.com/vagina-genital…) or this one by @Culture_Head (theestablishment.co/the-dirty-poli…) to promote true, lasting #bodypositivity.
