Hi! As a huge fan of the medium, I spend so much time in my life (and on twitter) recommending and hyping the podcasts I love. So here's a consolidated (forever-growing) list of some of my favourites.
Thread:
1. The Dead Authors Podcast - Love time travel? Hate Jules Verne? Crave a seance with literary giants of the classic kind? This is the podcast for you. @DeadAuthorPod | thedeadauthorspodcast.libsyn.com
2. Welcome to Night Vale - Community radio for a small desert town with a big heart. And even bigger secrets. @NightValeRadio | welcometonightvale.com
3. Alice Isn't Dead - A truck driver in her search across America for the wife she had long assumed was dead. Jasika Nicole's voice is ASMR on steroids. @AlicePodcast | nightvalepresents.com/aliceisntdead/
4. Rabbits - Carly Parker searches for her missing friend Yumiko, and finds herself in the midst of a decades-old alternate reality game. Prepare for chills. @rabbitspodcast | rabbitspodcast.com
8. The Assassination - A 10-part investigation into the murder of Benazir Bhutto, including interviews with the accused. Produced by the BBC. @OwenBennettJone | bbc.co.uk/programmes/p05…
9. Imaginary Advice - Remarkably original collection of audio fiction that feels like a cross between a pop culture fever dream and an epiphanic 2am conversations with oneself.
10. Within the Wires - Exceptionally produced series of fictional audio guides. Each of the three (standalone) seasons is a fascinating deep-dive into a universe as magical as it is mundane.
11. 99% Invisible - Weird and wonderful tales about the design and development of everyday things; like Atlas Obscura for your ears. 99pi is consistently amazing, and every bit as entertaining as it is educational.
12. Video Palace - After watching an unmarked white VHS tape, Mark starts talking in his sleep in a language that doesn’t exist. His search for answers leads him and his girlfriend down the perilous path of the legend of Video Palace.
13. Friday Night Comedy (from BBC Radio 4) - Love British panel shows? Hate The Daily Mail? Bamboozled by the goings-on of Brexit? Friday Night Comedy brings you all the hot-takes and hilarity of Mock the Week, but for your ears.
14. Adventures in New America - Afrofuturistic, political satire, buddy comedy featuring... techy terrorist vampire zombies... from outer space... Mhmm.
