Yesterday the Speaker's Delegation made an official call on Tagesse Chafo, Speaker of the House of Peoples’ Representatives, Federal Democratic Republic of #Ethiopia 🇪🇹 Very constructive discussion of respective political, social & economic challenges and opportunities. #nzpol Image
The delegation also visited #Hamlin Fistula rehabilitation centre, dedicated to the treatment and prevention of childbirth injuries called obstetric fistulas, + related training and rehabilitation. New Zealand supports the centre. @SpeakerTrevor @fistulaethiopia #nzpol

These days our Debating Chamber is mostly hat-free, but in the past the etiquette for when MPs had to doff or don their hats (be 'covered' or 'uncovered') was governed by complicated, arcane Westminster traditions inherited from @UKParliament. [2/]
