The @GOP gave up on offering legislative solutions a long time ago. Now, their platform consists of generating outrage through either non-existent problems or ones they have deliberately exacerbated by undermining the Biden administration, then blaming Biden for not fixing them.
For example, you’ll be hearing “Bidenflation!” from now until the midterms. Is it Biden’s doing? No. Republicans gave $2 trillion in tax cuts to billionaires and repeatedly refused to provide or extend relief for working families all so they could blame Biden for inflation.
They also banned, blocked, or outlawed all common sense health precautions against COVID so they could blame Biden for not ending the pandemic. They’re still screaming “UNMASK OUR KIDS” and “END THE MANDATES” daily. If doing so is a disaster, which they want, they’ll blame Biden.
If you’re a white person who says the n-word in 70 podcast episodes, you’re a fucking racist.
.@Spotify did not remove @joerogan’s episodes when he used that word 70 TIMES. Nor did they decide he wasn’t someone they wanted to host. They did it only *after* @patriottakes drew attention to it. This tells you all you need to know about them & and his listeners. #SpotifyKnew
And please spare me the “censorship,” “cancel culture,” and “free speech” B.S. Even if he gets booted from Spotify, Rogan will be someone who can independently reach millions with his podcast; the right invented cancel culture; and free speech ≠ freedom from consequences.
The right thinks Biden is “Temper Tantrum Joe” because he calmly & accurately described a man with no business being in the WH briefing room and whose job is solely to ask deliberately stupid questions? Sure guys. FYI this is what temper tantrums look like
Also important to note that calling a guy out who by every objective measure is a stupid son of a bitch is a far cry from demonizing the press as a whole, endorsing violence against them, teargassing them; and offering to pay legal fees for assaulting them
One of Trump’s most consistent themes as a candidate and as a “President” was his violent rhetoric toward the press, which is literally the only profession listed as protected under the First Amendment because it’s such a core part of democracy:
Donald Trump Jr. met with Russian spies in Trump Tower; Eric said they get most of their funding from Russia; Trump got impeached (the 1st time) for trying to extort the Ukrainian President to fabricate dirt on the Bidens; & Trump took Putin’s word over our intelligence agencies.
Mueller documented 14 instances in which Trump committed obstruction of justice in interfering with his investigation. We watched him fire Comey; purge officials from the FOJ, FBI, and DNI. We watched him be subservient to Putin in every interaction, never once criticizing him.
Trump’s business dealings with Russia went back to the late 1980’s (even before the rest of the @GOP was compromised); they laundered money through his shitty hotels, golf courses, & properties & gave him hundreds of millions in loans when no American banks would lend him money.
She may not be able to be primaried until 2024, but Kyrsten Sinema’s political career ended Wednesday, January 19th, 2022.
For the “she doesn’t care” people, I know that she doesn’t care. That’s not the point. If she was capable of caring, the filibuster would be gone and we’d have voting rights protections; Roe would be codified; Build Back Better would be passed; the child tax credit extended, etc.
Not everything I tweet about people is going to be something they’re unaware of or emotionally impacted by. In this case, Sinema likely knows her career in politics is over and doesn’t seem to care at all. It’s still worth saying. And expanding our majority to make her irrelevant
Discussions about ideology and policy; about platforms, traits, plans, and values; about progressivism and conservatism; about left, right, and center etc. all need to be put on hold while we address the fact that one political party has openly declared war on American democracy.
Stop pretending the @GOP stands for anything. There’s not even any pretense remaining that they have any interest in governance. This party saw that America was becoming an increasingly diverse inclusive nation and decided their response would be to burn it all to the ground.
The very fact that it needs to be debated on the floor of the senate in 2022 whether all eligible Americans should be able to vote IS A BLARING RED SIREN. Even more ominous is that our odds of this debate ending with enacting voting rights protections are extremely remote.
