It’s unsolicited tv writer advice season and something I can’t stop thinking about rn is how so many of us who have been lucky enough to make a living writing tv like to pretend it’s a merit based system because it validates us being a part of that system.
It is obviously not a merit based system - that’s why we all know like 100 people within it who continue to fail upward. We can’t fault people for looking at a system that has failed them and others for wanting to find a different path forward.
And the notion of “you’re not a good writer until you’ve taken the exact same path that I have” sucks because this is a “need experience to get experience” kind of business and wow that makes it hard to push through.

Haha planned a trip to Europe months ago, got to the airport and found out the airline NO LONGER EXISTED. @Expedia is taking zero responsibility & we keep getting emails like “how was your flight?!” What the absolute hell?? Please do something Expedia I am a comedy influencer.
A truly lovely customer service rep encouraged us to buy a last minute flight while we were stranded at the airport & made us confident we’d be reimbursed but now everyone is saying... non
My Europe trip has now been one night at the JFK hotel, about 60 hours on the phone with Expedia’s corporate, 90 million hours worrying about how much we’re spending on last minute flights, and like fifty Dutch windmills
