Islamic astrology shares a lot of commonalities and influence with European medieval astrology. For example how they interpret the different signs of the zodiac, or dairat al buruj

A thread on the signs in Islamic astrology:
Aries= Al Haml: masculine, fire, Spring, ruled by Mars, Sun is exalted. Loud laugh, haughty, sharp of tongue, lustful, brave, quick in action

Taurus= Athawar: feminine, earth, Spring, slow-moving, ruled by Venus, Moon is exalted. Of good judgment, lustful, lazy, fond of food.
Gemini=Al Jawza: masculine, air, Spring, double-bodied, ruled by Mercury. Fond of games, generous, good memory, memorizes the Qu’ran easily.

Cancer=As- Saratan: feminine, water, Summer, ruled by Moon, Jupiter is exalted. Nurturing, indolent, foolish, makes good home.
Leo= Al Assad: masculine, fire, Summer, ruled by Sun. Rigid, kingly, hard-hearted secretly, but publicly warm, forgetful, bold, proud

Virgo= Al Adhra: feminine, earth, Summer, Mercury is ruler and exalted. Skeptical, hesitant, judgement, good manners, truthful, fond of music.
Libra= Al Mizan: masculine, air, Autumn, ruled by Venus, Saturn is exalted, Harvest, judicious, thoughtful, excitable when speaking, melodious voice, indecisive, inclined to diplomacy and relationships
Scorpio= Al Aqrab: feminine, water, Autumn, ruled by Mars, inward force, buried fire under water and ice, deceitful, bold, rough mannered, indolent, inclined to evil thoughts
Sagittarius= Al Qaws: masculine, fire, Autumn, ruled by Jupiter, double-bodied, physically active, mathematics and philosophy, thoughtful about afterlife, virile, fond of drink, quick of thought, fond of travel
Capricorn= Al Jadi: feminine, earth, Winter, ruled by Saturn, Mars is exalted. Reserved, frugal, choleric, anxious, quarrelsome, crafty

Aquarius= Ad Dalw: masculine, air, Winter, ruled by Saturn. Chaste, inert, indolent, inclined to anxiousness
Pisces= Al Hoot: feminine, water, Winter, ruled by Jupiter, double-bodied, inclined to self-indulgence, delusion, and dreams. Compassionate, but bad with money. Elegant, unstable of opinions
Both medieval and Islamic astrology share an emphasis on planets. The signs themselves are not particularly important in the natal chart, it is the planets that rule. So the information on signs is limited and the focus is placed on the way planets interact in houses and signs.
For example Ibn Ezra writes, Venus in 7th or 12th house means the person is likely having lots of sex.

The Sun and First House can provide temperament, but the chart is not about personality. It is predictive and diagnostic. In this way it differs from modern astrology.
The brief sketch of the Zodiac here is focused on temperament and would be only a small portion of a natal chart.

With the main focus on how the planets interact in the zodiac in the specific houses providing specifics and predictions for a person's life.
