News Release: Commissioner Hardesty approves new Pedestrian Design Guide, helping add more space for trees while preserving access for people with disabilities and other pedestrians
@JoAnnPDX The first new rules for sidewalks in 24 years will help Portland fight climate change by forging a compromise that allows space for people and trees. portland.gov/transportation…
@JoAnnPDX All pedestrian facilities designed and constructed in Portland by City-led capital projects and by private development must conform to the Pedestrian Design Guide.
The three-minute spaces will allow all for a shared parking space while still providing high-turnover parking in front of hotel entrances. Hotels with valets may be allowed up to 20 minutes when a valid valet slip is on the vehicle’s dash.
As part of the SW Broadway Bike Improvements, the bureau will install protected bike lanes between SW Oak and Clay Streets, upgrade traffic signals, and implement parking changes.
This project completes the missing link of a north-south protected bike lane between the Broadway Bridge to the north and Portland State University (PSU) campus to the south. The bike lane will be protected and moved against the curb on the west side of the street.
@PDXFire@PortlandPolice@multco Add this to your Portland trivia:
This is the first major readdressing effort in Portland since the Great Renaming of 1931 which created the current N, NE, NW, SE and SW Portland.
That's almost 90 years ago!
@PDXFire@PortlandPolice@multco For decades, due to the eastward curvature in the Willamette River, addresses in SW Portland located east of SW Naito have used a leading zero to differentiate them from addresses west of Naito. Those leading zero address don't work well with today's modern systems.
Hey #Portland, it's been almost two weeks since e-scooters hit the streets so we thought it might be a good time to remind you of a few #scootpdx rules of the road.
1: E-scooters must be WALKED on sidewalks. Riding is only allowed in bike and travel lanes.
