They are either in the form of analysis as reports (very few good ones are public and free) or they are in the form of quantitative data as in surveys.
- I was wondering, if there could be something in between that can go deeper in understanding people’s behaviour.
Regarding consent:
- This initiative has me working full time and a bunch of design interns trying to pull this off. So to clarify, this mostly the work of just a bunch of folks.
- I have been very keen on not publishing the real names or photographs and ask permission before recording and inform the participants about the publishing.
- Till now we have published just 8 stories and all of them were the ones we knew close enough as either first or second-degree connections. So it's a first-degree of trust.
- The idea behind partnering with other organisations is to build on their trust. For example, Buzzindia foundation organises free financial literacy classes for rural women that have changed their lives in a significant way and thats the primary reason for these women to
- It was heartwarming Naveen, to see these women talk about their daily challenges and ask us back as to how we could help them overcome their situation and I personally feel their stories need to be reached to the tech innovators.
Since I haven’t seen such format of publishing before, it didn't occur to me that a ethics framework could exist. I did write a bunch of ethical principles in my framework, but I'm surely not doing a great job.
- Have been envying the graduates that I met recently. - In fact, when we started d91labs, you are the first one we reached out to for collaboration, but we, unfortunately, couldn’t get a reply.
- Given that we have known each other, a DM from you regarding this would have been treated with the same priority of answering this on a public forum.
- We have a bunch of more interviews to publish, but we are happy to halt them and talk to you to understand better as what would be the right way to do it. Let me know the best way to reach out to you :)
Looking forward.

One Whatsapp group and one Facebook page. Here is how an electrical store runs its operation digitally.
'S' Electricals does not stack the most popular brand ', Havells, but instead sells 'RR Kabels'. His answer sparked my curiosity 👇
By stocking popular brands, the owner felt he was being compared for prices with other stores and he believed competing on price is a race to the bottom.
He struck a deal with a local distributor to give him exclusive rights to sell the next popular brand 'RR Kabels'.
In return, the store owner promised to give high-volume business to the distributor by leveraging the local electrician network.
In an electrical store, higher revenue is earned through winning electrical contracts for new homes rather than retail sales.
A few years ago, I visited a village in Tamil Nadu to study how small farmers manage their finances.
Most farmers did not want their children to follow in their footsteps but wanted them to find a job. I kept wondering what changed between the two generations.
(Thread 🧵 )
Farmers I interviewed had their fair share of struggles like unpredictable incomes and climate change, but they seemed content in the work they did.
Every time they talked about their farms, their eyes lit up. They referred to their lands as if they were their children.
When I asked why they did not want their children to continue farming, they replied that they wanted the struggle of farming to end with them and for their children to have a better life.
In my recent visit to Erode (TN), I had the opportunity to chat with Mr Pradeep, a friend of dad's who has been running a saree shop in the town for the last 5 generations.
He shared his story about how he recently started selling sarees online via Instagram reels 👇

"Bala Silks" has been around for decades in Erode. It is in the older part of the town, which largely has narrow roads.
Erode has been constantly expanding. As a result, newer shops have come up in the neighbourhood, which has wider roads and better parking infrastructure.
This simple difference in where the shop is located has resulted in fewer customers willing to come to the older part of the town as the parking facilities aren't excellent.
As a result, Bala Silks has been struggling to attract newer customers because of lower footfall.

A quote from Mircosoft's research paper.
I am unpacking my observations around homemakers, OTTs and chores.
I once watched an ad where the kid spends the day in his granddad's office cabin, and when they reach home, the grandpa asks the kid to explain to the grandma how difficult his job is.
Everyone’s surprise, the kid talks in favour of his grandma, stating that it's easy to be grandpa as people walk into his cabin to get work done but grandma shops, cooks, serves and washes all by herself.
