Regarding "Imagine if Duke 3D got censored in 1996..."' and all that jazz. It did. There was a special version made to be sold in Wal-Mart (biggest retail @ the πŸ•™) with permanently enabled parental lock (remeber that? Duke 3D actually had a parental lock feature to begin with!).
Shadow Warrior got censored in the UK, they also changed shurikens into freaking *darts*. NAM had to have it's entire title changed to Napalm to be sold in Wal-Mart (???). The 90s weren't some kind of a gaming utopia.
Remember this jab at Apogee in Jazz? That was gone after the first version
There's also a pretty good chance your version of Jazz Jackrabbit doesn't have this in it either
My point is none of this is new. Happened *plenty* in the 90s for various reasons with different outcomes. Don't forget your history.

Lore: my family's last name was changed from a somewhat noble to a more common one because one of my ancestors insulted a high ranking officer as a soldier.
I was unable to confirm this because my family history for some reason only goes back so much, which can kind of be explained by that lore, but it still sounds like bullshit to me.
Anyway, until I confirm otherwise, I come from a long line of village peasants.

This short and (somewhat) sweet point & click adventure-puzzle game was based on a Soviet animated mini-series "Kolobkis Are On The Case" from 1986-1987.
If the animation style looks familiar to you, it's because animation direction was done by Igor Kovalyov, who later went on to work for Klasky Csupo where he worked on Aaahh!!! Real Monsters and The Rugrats Movie, as well as creating the title sequence for Duckman.

Huh. This new "disturbing" Pinocchio actually looks like it's following the source material surprisingly closely, and the tone feels strangely appropriate.
And I guess Roberto Benigni is now the only film actor to have played both Geppetto and Pinocchio throughout his career?
I guess now is as good of a time as any to show off Buratino, the Soviet Pinocchio. Image

Wtf, there's a patch to enable EAX effects in Thief in modern Windows on all soundcards?!?!?!
Holy fuck, I might as well replay Thief now. Have you ever played Thief with an EAX enabled sound card? Because if you haven't, you really should. It's crazy how much better the experience is, and that it was limited to a certain sub-section of hardware.
I'm actually wondering how many of my followers played Thief with EAX. Let's do a poll!
Have you played Thief 1 or 2 with an EAX capable sound card?
