Birthright citizenship

I believe that the country needs to suspend or withdraw birthright citizenship until the illegal immigration situation normalizes to historical metrics.

The founding fathers never envisioned a situation where over 25% of Federal arrests annually would be arrests of people in the country illegally.

More people want to immigrate to the US than any country. More people want to come to the US than the government or people choose to afford. This forces limits to numbers of immigrants.

If progressives or conservatives in Congress had passed laws to allocate more money and directions for more immigration support, the current problem would not exist. But they didn't.

People are currently arriving at the border at a rate of hundreds of thousands or more annually. So now, it is too late to say "Oh we can provide more money and programs...". Too late, that door is closed.

Some immigrants that are unable to obtain citizenship through other means give birth while here illegally solely because of birthright citizenship.

Imagine what a blessing a US citizenship is! Suppose someone offered to buy YOUR citizenship. They'd get your passport, your social security number and benefits, your right to vote.

You'd get a medium chance at deportation, no right to vote or work, and years until the situation can possibly change. How much would you charge?

The value of a US citizenship is high enough so that people have this goal as the primary purpose of conception. What a horrible thing!

The reason a man and woman conceive should be that they wish to nurture a child. If that isn't the primary goal, how does the child fair?

The injustice of a child with otherwise motivated parents can occur because the current system rewards people that enter the US illegally and then give birth.

It is a basic tenet of any legal system that people cannot benefit from illegal activity. This has been the basis for the forfeiture of billions (with a 'b') of dollars, often when that penalty is far in excess of the maximum fine for some criminal act.

The penalty for illegal immigration has to be eventual deportation. This is the case even when it means a child that is born in this country must leave. Any other end result allows immigrants to avoid legal immigration requirements.

Very few countries have birthright citizenship and the reason is that birthright citizenship encourages illegal immigration.

I believe that the country needs to suspend or withdraw birthright citizenship until the illegal immigration problem is comprehensively addressed.
