CDC has sex & age data on 373 cases of lung injury associated w/ use of e-cigarette/vaping products. 67% of cases are people 18 to 34 years old; 16% are younger than 18 years old. Of these, 72% of cases are male.
Until we know more, if concerned about these health risks, CDC recommends you consider refraining from using e-cigarette/vaping products. If you’ve recently used an e-cigarette/vaping product & have symptoms like those reported in this outbreak, see a healthcare provider.
Anyone who uses an e-cigarette/vaping product should not buy these products off the street (such as e-cigarette/vaping products with THC or other cannabinoids), and should not modify/add any substances not intended by the manufacturer.
Youth/young adults and women who are pregnant should not use e-cigarette products. Adults who do not currently use tobacco products should not start using e-cigarette products.
