So I have been playing this on the way home today.
It's a decent Match-3 game with a story attached. The weirdest thing? Uh, I'm enjoying the story segments.

In the first level, our job was supposed to be disposing of urinal cakes. I assumed that was what Match-3 was.
No. This is the "business owner" playing games while he is supposed to be working. Everyone else is doing the heavy lifting because he was born into money.

Most of the jokes are on the nose, but that's fine. It's caustic stuff.
I'm not sure where the story is headed but I'm sure to find out. I'm now the protagonist's imaginary friend.

It's true, Ganyo has no redeeming traits. I can't find any.
I should highlight that Guildmaster Story is an F2P game. I've only just started to run into trouble around level 25. And I'm pretty sure I lost one level due to a bug. A ladybug. I was supposed to drop three ladybirds within the move count but only two ever turned up.
To clarify what I said earlier about the ladybug/ladybird, it's no bug...

I feel like I'm being majorly trolled. Some of the dialogue doubles as a critique of F2P systems - you know like the one the game has. Ah, I'm just seeing things that don't exist. That's what critics do, imagine up the content so you don't have to.
I'm kind of done with the Match-3 part - especially as I have still not paid for any upgrades aside from watching ads - but there is no escape for me because I have to know what happens to Ganyo.

This is the most non-feelgood Match-3 I've played in my life. And I've played Six Match which is like an intravenous drip of anxiety for expert hands.

Much like Ganyo, in this "fantasy story" I really wished there was such a thing. Of course, it would assuage Ganyo's conscience. Someone else can deal with the shit he leaves behind. #GuildmasterStory
It has been brought to my attention that I'm not showing any of the actual #GuildmasterStory game. So, to keep my Dad happy, here is another picture of the game. This is level 95 I think and I have one piece of glass left to smash with just one move left GRRAWWWR
It's just a simple match-3 with no extra funky mechanics to emerge down the line. This is not *not* my type of game at all but I want to know how the black comedy of contemporary capitalism plays out. There's a lot of buried anger here.

And #GuildmasterStory is coming to an end. I'd probably appreciate it better on Steam where I wouldn't be concerned about pay to progress. When a level like this turns up, I groan because it's designed to jam. Had plenty of "Regenerating level..." moments as the level got stuck.
And #GuildmasterStory seems to berate me personally just for continuing with the game. Why? Why are you doing this??
