“I want to talk about us building the open source community we want.” ~ @kentcdodds kicking off this morning. #AllThingsOpen
@kentcdodds Saying "thank you for your contribution" made Kent feel welcome, and he's done a lot of contributing since. I had the same experience thanks to @MikeMcQuaid's kind outreach as I opened issues and a minor PRs for Homebrew. It makes a lifetime of difference #AllThingsOpen
@kentcdodds@MikeMcQuaid Kent's channeling one of my favorite quotes on writing: “He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me.” ~ Thomas Jefferson #AllThingsOpen

I've been in ChatGPT 4o and Claude Sonet 3.5 on a daily basis a month. Here's what I've noticed about which one I pull up for which problem 🧵
For context: my top 3 topics are product management strategy, Obsidian PKM (knowledge management), and whatever random philosophy piques my interest. There's plenty of random stuff in there too.
In ChatGPT, I renamed my most revisited topics so I maintain that context between the random other thoughts.
And that's the first main contrast: Claude chats can't be renamed and Projects are not accessible on iOS and 3 clicks away in the browser ☹️
Some other newborn advice I keep getting is to "sleep in shifts."
With my partner breastfeeding, that sounds to me like I sleep while she does everything and that’s crap advice.
Here's a list I've found to be supportive of her while she feeds (and you can use them too):
I keep her hydrated. She's slugging down a 26oz tumbler nearly every session and she can't go get the water and give it to herself. I refill it and hold it up every 20 seconds to see if she wants some. It works well. @YETICoolers wins for form factor here: yeti.com/en_US/drinkwar…
I keep her fed. She needs so much more food than she was eating during pregnacy to stay healthy. Every baby feeding, I get her at least one piece of fresh fruit + toast, a smoothie, or a granola bar (or all of the above). I'm often feeding her while she's managing the baby.
I have a terrible idea that I need to get out there in case somehow it’s not terrible.

There’s one way @JoeBiden can win the debates and capture the rural and undecided conservative voter on Tuesday: he needs to punch Trump in the face. On stage.
Hear me out.
I’ve been obsessively reading about George Lakoff’s research of political morality and cognitive frames.
I was about to try to climb this, but I dropped my wedding ring into a crack on the freaking mountain top.
It’s all jagged rock with big pockets. I bent and folded myself in between cracks trying to find it. No luck.
When my friend finishes her route, she and I excavate an entire hole of rocks, me kind of nervous about moving too much and getting caught in there. She found it right after I said we should give up.
"It’s often said that extroverts get their energy from people, while introverts are energized by solitude. The data show that’s a myth."
"In a pair of studies, people rated their energy hourly or weekly. ...
Extroverts felt more energized when they were being talkative and outgoing — but introverts did, too. Then, in an experiment, people were randomly assigned to act like extroverts or introverts in a group discussion. Acting extroverted energized even the introverts."
