So many reviewers... So many... Have directly scoffed at my work. Called my concern sensational. Hyperbole.

Tomorrow morning, someone else will be pinned prone. Perhaps they will live. But their spirit will flicker, buffeted by a hateful wind.

I will be lighting a candle.

And I will be thinking about Max.

And I will be thinking about all the neurokindred whose names we don't know. Whose stories are untold. But whose bodies have been pinned and smothered, punishment for their daring divergent spirit...

I will be thinking about the activists and the scholars who are trying to chant and write our way into legibility.

Let us go. Let us out. Let us be.
