Sarah Pitlyk has worked to erode women’s access to safe, legal abortion—including defending legislation that would have allowed landlords to evict tenants, & employers to fire employees, simply because they used birth control or got pregnant before getting married. #StopPitlyk
Sarah Pitlyk has not only expressed her personal bias against assisted reproductive technology (A.R.T.), such as IVF, but has authored briefs arguing surrogacy and A.R.T. have "grave effects on society."
These views are alarming and disqualifying. #StopPitlyk
If Sarah Pitlyk is confirmed, expect years of decisions that harm women & families, restrict access to repro health care, & even potentially jeopardize women's ability to become a parent.
I urge my colleagues to do the right thing & oppose Pitlyk's nomination. #StopPitlyk

I'm live on the Senate floor to speak out about the release of the January 6 tapes and their total misuse by a Fox News personality to distort and change the truth of what happened that day. twitter.com/i/broadcasts/1…
There are so many challenges facing us as a nation today. But there is one overriding concern that I have: that people trust our democracy.
All of us—no matter our opinions or our beliefs—have a responsibility as leaders to preserve it & never allow brute force to win the day.
I was in the Capitol during the worst of the January 6 insurrection. It was a dark, violent chapter in our nation’s history. To hear a prime time Fox News host downplay that...it's infuriating.
Three weeks ago, the Republican-stacked Supreme Court overturned #RoeVWade & dragged our country back 50 years.
The consequences have been harsh & swift. Today I’m leading a @HELPCmteDems hearing to shed light on the health care crisis Republicans have caused.
Republicans’ cruelty has already been devastating. States have banned abortions for any reason. Health care providers risk jail time for doing their jobs. Patients can’t get life-saving medications. Women live with deep uncertainty for their futures.
Republicans’ response to this devastation is to work to be even crueler. They're talking about:
❌A federal abortion ban
❌Putting women and providers in jail
❌Banning travel for abortion
Today, Republicans dragged this country backwards by half a century.
Republicans ripped away our rights and made this generation the first generation of American women with fewer rights than their mothers.
Republicans are forcing women to stay pregnant and give birth when they don’t want to—no matter the circumstances. They are even passing laws to jail women who get abortions and the doctors who provide them.
Right here in the Senate, it was Republicans who stacked our Supreme Court with anti-abortion justices, who blocked Democrats’ efforts to protect abortion rights, and who right now are pushing for a federal abortion ban.
LIVE: I’m on the Senate floor voicing my strong, enthusiastic support for Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson’s nomination to the Supreme Court. twitter.com/i/broadcasts/1…
Judge Jackson is one of the most exceptional SCOTUS nominees I’ve ever met with. I am so excited that she’s on her way to our nation’s highest court. It’s incredibly well deserved.
It’s clear she’s got the experience, understanding of the law, a seemingly endless supply of (perhaps unwarranted) patience, and the heart, compassion, and commitment to justice needed for this role.
It should be no surprise her nomination was met with wide acclaim.
My colleagues know I am someone whose focus is always on getting things done for WA state & our country. But outdated, misused procedure is getting in the way of debate & legislation. With all our country faces right now, we’ve absolutely got to fix it.
When a single Senator can block even a debate on legislation a majority of us support or hold up the otherwise uncomplicated, run-of-the-mill confirmation of very non-controversial administration officials—just by hitting send on an email—that’s absurd.
Millions of Americans wonder why bills that pass the House only ever come to the Senate to die. It’s because a single member of this institution can shut down even the opportunity to confirm a nominee or debate legislation that a majority of this chamber supports.
