I'm live on the Senate floor to speak out about the release of the January 6 tapes and their total misuse by a Fox News personality to distort and change the truth of what happened that day.… There are so many challenges facing us as a nation today. But there is one overriding concern that I have: that people trust our democracy.

All of us—no matter our opinions or our beliefs—have a responsibility as leaders to preserve it & never allow brute force to win the day.

Three weeks ago, the Republican-stacked Supreme Court overturned #RoeVWade & dragged our country back 50 years.

The consequences have been harsh & swift. Today I’m leading a @HELPCmteDems hearing to shed light on the health care crisis Republicans have caused. Republicans’ cruelty has already been devastating. States have banned abortions for any reason. Health care providers risk jail time for doing their jobs. Patients can’t get life-saving medications. Women live with deep uncertainty for their futures.

Today, Republicans dragged this country backwards by half a century.

Republicans ripped away our rights and made this generation the first generation of American women with fewer rights than their mothers. Republicans are forcing women to stay pregnant and give birth when they don’t want to—no matter the circumstances. They are even passing laws to jail women who get abortions and the doctors who provide them.

LIVE: I’m on the Senate floor voicing my strong, enthusiastic support for Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson’s nomination to the Supreme Court.… Judge Jackson is one of the most exceptional SCOTUS nominees I’ve ever met with. I am so excited that she’s on her way to our nation’s highest court. It’s incredibly well deserved.

LIVE: I'm on the Senate floor to speak out against the recent wave of hateful attacks on transgender youth happening across the country.

We all have a responsibility to stand up and make clear that this isn’t right.… Republicans are targeting trans & gay students, & taking incredibly important & personal decisions away from parents & families.

Right now, it feels like far-right lawmakers are racing to pass the most extreme, most hateful bills they can think up at the expense of trans kids.

The Senate is broken.

My colleagues know I am someone whose focus is always on getting things done for WA state & our country. But outdated, misused procedure is getting in the way of debate & legislation. With all our country faces right now, we’ve absolutely got to fix it. When a single Senator can block even a debate on legislation a majority of us support or hold up the otherwise uncomplicated, run-of-the-mill confirmation of very non-controversial administration officials—just by hitting send on an email—that’s absurd.

LIVE: I’m chairing a Senate HELP Committee hearing with our nation’s leading public health experts and COVID-19 response team on the pandemic and our efforts to address new variants like Omicron.… Nearly 2 years into this pandemic, people are exhausted after all we’ve been through. We’re all alarmed by how quickly Omicron has spread—& anxious about what’s next. I’ve heard from people back in WA state who are frustrated & worried about the course of this pandemic.

I’m speaking on the Senate floor to call for action here in this chamber to end the crisis of gun violence we’ve long seen in our schools, neighborhoods, and across our country.

I will not stay quiet & will keep pushing for change. Watch live:… Last week, we mourned the deaths of 4 high school students following the tragic school shooting at Oxford High School in Michigan.

My heart goes out to their families and friends, and to every student there who is now carrying the trauma of that experience.

I come to the Capitol every day to fight for what I believe in. I often have issues I feel very strongly about—whether it’s a woman’s right to choose, or immigration, or health care, or the issue of the day. I use my voice to tell people what I believe to be right, and I listen to the other side. We hear each other out, we vote, and whoever has the votes wins. And I accept that.

Tonight Senate Republicans forced a vote on a bill they claimed would protect patients with pre-existing conditions.

But the truth is, this bill wasn't about protecting patients, it was about protecting Republicans from their record of undermining health care. Republicans have tried *repeatedly* to overturn protections for pre-ex conditions—& right now, they're rushing to confirm a SCOTUS justice who could rule in a case that will be argued just days after the election to end those protections & upend health care entirely.

President Trump has told us repeatedly what he wants in a justice: a jurist who above anything else is committed to gutting health care through the courts and ending safe, legal abortion in the United States of America. Make no mistake, a vote to confirm a Supreme Court nominee who meets President Trump’s tests is a vote to take away people’s health care and vital rights.

Speaking in a Senate committee hearing with members of the White House Coronavirus Task Force about how President Trump's political interference is sabotaging the work of our scientists and public health experts.… So much has changed since the early days of the COVID-19 crisis. But one thing hasn’t changed: President Trump is still putting politics ahead of public health.

Speaking at a Senate committee hearing with @CDCDirector, @HHS_ASH, and @PHEgov about President Trump's failed leadership and damaging political interference in the COVID-19 pandemic response.… Since the beginning of this crisis, President Trump has been spreading inaccuracies & outright lies, and recklessly interfering with the work of our public health agencies for political benefit—showing a dangerous disregard for truth, facts, science, & people's lives.

Speaking at a Senate committee hearing about the importance of protecting the rights of college athletes—including getting fair compensation, establishing enforceable health and safety standards, and providing them with the quality education they deserve.… Compensating college athletes must be looked at from a perspective of racial and economic justice. For too long, the $15 billion college sports industry has been a rigged system that exploits young athletes, particularly young athletes of color—& that desperately needs to change.

Good morning. Today the Senate GOP wants to vote on a COVID-19 "relief" bill. Aside from the fact that this bill fails to meet deep needs nationwide, it actually has policies that could undermine response efforts and make people’s lives even harder.

Here's what you need to know. The Senate GOP bill would give corporations a "get out jail free card" so they aren't held accountable if their employees get sick on the job.

Speaking at a Senate committee hearing about how developing & distributing safe, effective, trusted COVID-19 vaccines cannot be accomplished without strong, science-driven leadership from the federal government.… Unfortunately, while the White House should be offering science-based leadership, a comprehensive national vaccines plan, and reliable information—President Trump has instead been a source of conspiracy theories and misinformation.

Pres. Trump & Postmaster General DeJoy’s political meddling with USPS is having real, dangerous consequences. In a call with folks from WA, a rural Postmaster talked about the stress & anxiety his workers are experiencing due to policy changes & the recent politicization of USPS. A veteran spouse and caregiver shared her story about how a delayed prescription kept her husband in excruciating pain for weeks—a delay she believes was caused by Postmaster General DeJoy's new changes at USPS.

Speaking on the Senate floor about my frustration with Republicans’ delayed & insufficient action, and the need for bold solutions that give families, schools, workers, & communities the support they need.… After months of delay, the Senate GOP finally produced a so-called relief package that grants corporations immunity if their workers or customers get sick, guts jobless benefits, & rolls back critical civil rights protections for workers, including people with disabilities.

Our best hope to end this pandemic are safe, effective vaccines that are widely available at no cost and taken up by people across the country. Today, I led @SenateDems to lay down a clear marker about what needs to happen to make sure we get this right.… Rapidly and equitably developing, producing, distributing, and administering hundreds of millions of doses of vaccines will be a massive challenge, demanding effective management, discipline and transparency—none of which the Trump Administration has demonstrated so far.

NEW REPORT details the Trump Admin’s failure to quickly scale up COVID-19 testing nationwide—and leaves no question President Trump’s refusal to lead made this crisis worse.… Skyrocketing cases across the country are straining our inadequate testing capacity. Without leadership and a change of course on testing from the Trump Admin, it’s not a question of if we'll see the issues we're still struggling with spiral out of control—but a matter of when.
