My vision for transformative leadership in Nigeria is based on what outcomes the leader would like to achieve by the end of a four-year term of office, his/her understanding of public policy,
national/international experience of best practice standards of good governance. Other elements of a clear vision include political and institutional will, preparation, and proactive readiness to govern.
The next President of Nigeria should:
- use the transition period between winning an election and swearing-in to finalize plans he/she should have already made to hit the ground running.
- Appoint key presidency officials such as Secretary to the Government , National Security
Adviser and Chief of Staff immediately upon being sworn into office as President.
- Nominate and announce his/her cabinet with 48 hours of being sworn in. Subject to Senate confirmation, Ministers should be at their desk & start work within 30 days of the President’s swearing-in.
All appointments of CEOs and board directors of public sector parastatals will be made within 90 days from Day One of the new administration.
-Meritocracy/professionalism will be restored. Proper corporate governance will be restored to public institutions.
An inclusive approach to governance, in decision making process and personnel appointments will become a hallmark of governance. Federal Character will be respected but without prejudice to merit. No region or section of Nigeria will be marginalized. Equity and justice’ll reign.
Extensive, fundamental reform of the Federal Public Service will take place. Cost of governance will be drastically cut. Concurrent expenditure wil. E reduced to not more than 50% of budget by the end of the second year in office. Savings will be shifted to health, education,
Science, Technology and Innovation (STI) and infrastructure. There will be a moratorium on ALL foreign borrowing, with ratio of revenues to debt servicing brought down to no more than 30%. World class project management companies will supervise all federal infrastructure projects
to ensure transparency and delivery on time and under budget. As President of Nigeria I will establish and govern via four critical offices: National Office of Strategy, National Office of Risk Management, Office of Performance Management, and the Office of Human Capital Mangt.
Strategy, risk, performance and project management will become an integral part of governance in all ministries, departments and agencies. #21stcenturyleadership #ModernPresidency

Multiparty democracy , to be real and benefit Africa, must mean 7 things that are broadly absent presently:
1. The contest for electoral offices must be for authority to govern, with the legitimacy from the popular vote, not for power for its own sake or for self-enrichment.
2. Electoral contests must be a contest of alternative ideas, visions or philosophies about how society can make progress. Every successful democracy is based on contending IDEAS.
3. The PROCESS of elections must have integrity in order to be legitimate. This means the umpire
must be neutral as between contending parties & must be truly independent, not controlled/influenced by government, ruling or opposition parties.
4. The electorate must be both basically and politically literate. This is necessary to have capacity to assess candidates for votes.

In the debates on national wage in Nigeria we miss the fundamental point: there is little or no productivity in the economy. If we had a truly productive economy there is no reason we can’t have the kind of minimum wage of 400 or 500K that Labour wants. But we can’t, because the
level of productivity in the economy cannot support it. Remember, minimum wage is not just about government salaries. There are not more than 2, at most 3 million civil servants in Nigeria. It is even more about what is paid in the private sector, to household staff, etc.
All of this is why, all things considered, including avoiding a minimum wage that multiplies already ravaging inflation (assuming such a wage can even be paid), I recommend a minimum wage of between N75,000 and N100,000.
