I'm four chapters into House of Earth and Blood and of course, I'm enjoying it.

The first chapter is a massive infodump to introduce the world, but once Bryce and Danika really start talking, it gets awesome.

Bryce and Danuka are an awesome set of friends. And I *know* Maas Destruction is coming.

Bryce so far is more like Celaena than Feyre so I'm not relating to her as much. Though I wish I could be as badass as she is.

What I do relate to? Her love of dance. I miss dancing. A lot.

I hope Connor stays around.

And Bryce has a shitty Fae dad? Quelle surprise!

Chapter 5 included aforementioned Maas Destruction and I'm not okay.

I wanted more of those characters.

I have now met Hunt.

In the words of Cordelia Chase, hello salty goodness.

Look, Ruhn is clearly another Trash Fae that I love.

In all seriousness, I'm happy Bryce is cleaning up her life, but also I'm still very sad about everything

Bryce and Hunt being civil with each other and actually working together. I love it.

Ooh. Forgot to mention that Bryce's aversion to therapy is on the small list of reasons we are alike.

Also, it's interesting because SJM said in the livestream how much therapy and medication has changed her life in the past year.

I am just loving these characters so much and their interactions. Like every SJM book so far.

I do enjoy the plot, but the characters are everything for me.

Ithan was terrible to Bryce, but I understand it. He gets a pass for now.

Finally. Two longer chapters.

Hunt is very sexually frustrated now. Bryce is back in her depression. Ruhn is still a delight. This trio is giving me life.

Bryce had a slip, but it led to some revelations and Hunt called the apartment home.

The slip was important for me. Because now I feel like I can relate to her and not just on a surface level.

The way she described her friendship and how despite all their differences, they never treated her like she was less than while all of society does...I felt that.

But really, it was this. From Hunt:

"Because you pretend to be irreverent and lazy, but deep down, you don't give up. Because you know that if you do, then they win."

That dream though at the end...

"It was still raining the next morning, which Bryce decided was an omen. Today would suck. Last night had sucked."

A lot happened but all I can focus on is:

SHE CALLED RUHN. SHE! CALLED! RUHN!

MY TRASH FAE BB!!!!

That shower scene was very sensual.

Finally, I hate Micah.

Was kind of on the fence about him, leaning negative, but now: he can die.

SJM and I have similar brain waves when it comes to sexy scenes.

And no! They still haven't made out!

But we're getting closer to solving the mystery. I think.

Meeting the parents did not go well and I don't fully understand why Hunt did that

Look at Bryce acting like an adult.

I want to share some passages of the continued cute but I'm not home so instead you get:

While this obviously was not very smooth at all, it was extremely sweet and KISS ALREADY

Slowly figuring things out and I have a slightly batshit theory about who's behind one of the crimes.

The food in this book is really making me wish we were able to go out to eat and that I had my own kitchen to make food.

Not the point of this chapter at all but every time she brings up chocolate croissants, I instantly wish I had one.

And I'm still on the fence about Micah! He is pretty awful too, but can show mercy? Ughhhhh

Micah is a prime candidate for the SJM bait and switch.

Short chapter where Bryce actually succeeds at being a detective!

BUT REALLY LET'S TALK ABOUT HOW SHE LET RUHN IN HER APARTMENT TO TAKE CARE OF HUNT

RUHN JUST WANTS TO BE IN HER LIFE AGAIN AND I LOVE HIM SO MUCH

Okay, that revelation is truly horrifying.

BUT

It finally happened! But not the way I wanted it to because of a certain incident that occurred two chapters prior.

DAMMIT SJM

It ended with Bryce making a very dumb decision and I'm kind of surprised it took this long.

Also, I can't decide who's gonna be angrier about this: Hunt or Ruhn

"What sort of an afterward for you and me do you have in mind, Athalar?"
"The good kind."
"Sounds like a plan to me."

"Hunt. You kissed me - at the medwitch's office."
"What about it?"
"Did you mean it?"

I have no words for the final reveal of that chapter.

And he totally deserves it

Here's where I'm at: though everyone is an adult, the adultier adults are so shady that I can't trust any of them.

So the non-adulty adults are cleaning up all their messes.

Ahhhhh I just read 50 pages for Silent Book Club and

There's still a lot that didn't happen that I wanted to, but it's ending quite nicely.

This was always a book about grief. And figuring out how to move on.

And Bryce is doing that.

The next book has been set up in so many ways. I hope she follows through on most of it.

Basically, leadership needs to be changed. EVERYWHERE.

Ahhhh, there you are, character who was mysteriously absent while shit went down.

And you're talking to someone rather unexpected.

Truly an amazing setup for the next book.

ACOTAR and Feyre are still my #1, but I really enjoyed this world and characters!
