DC has their own race of #SupermanAnalogue aliens out there (aside from the Kryptonians)! Several actually! And they can be used for a variety of stories as needed, villains, observers, or occasionally as heroes. So let's talk about the cousins of Kryptonians, the Daxamites! 
The most famous member is of course Lar Gand/Mon-El/Valor/M'Onel, aka Superboy's big brother! This guy is a silver age alien that young Clark Kent found, adopted as kin, then poisoned him like a petty bitch and imprisoned in a hell designed by his father. Wait...
Ok, that's a harsh read and I already covered him, but he is one of the great heroes of the DC Universe, both in our time and 1000 years in the future. He's the one who established the rules: Daxamites are just like Kryptonians but weak to lead instead of Kryptonite.
He's so important that a version was utilized in the CW's Supergirl series. This series positioned the species as being the hedonistic rivals to the stuffier Kryptonians, but also destroyed in the same catastrophe that wiped out their star system.
However, they've also spawned several other heroes such as Laurel Gand and Sodam Yat. I've covered both before. More importantly, Daxam still exists! It's orbiting a different red sun, so members can show up whenever the story needs a Superman type without the retcons!
Prominently, they played a part in our era when joined with the Dominators and Khund during the Invasion arc. They weren't prepared for either the powers they'd gain on Earth or the lead in the atmosphere, since their isolationist nature keeps them from exploring often.
However, in certain futures, a supremacist group called The "White Triangle" would seek to rule the Galaxy. These ones are more traditional"evil Supermen".
They even inserted one of their own in the Legion, a version of Laurel Gand, going by Andromeda, who bought into their hate until she learned to see the value in others.
But the classic tale of why we should fear Daxamites is the Great Darkness Saga, where all of Daxam falls under the control of Darkseid once he discovers its existence and uses them as an army of conquest, after having them reshape their planet into his visage as a tribute.
A planet of Supermen back when Supermen could move planets was something DC had never dated show before.
Even children were corrupted and terrifying. And for the youth, some of the mind control and programming stuck even after Darkseid was defeated, leaving them fearsome villains for the Legion.
While, they normally just want to be left alone, the Daxamites are a fascinating race, full of potential. Isn't that what being a Superman is all about?
