Well I was hoping there would be an official announcement but this seems more in keeping with the politics of the day and the state of the Labour Party right now...
Oh, ok, finally.
Substantial, and Starmer will certainly contrast with the style of the PM.
Worth bearing in mind that Starmer's shadow cabinet is also likely to be a considerable upgrade on the Corbyn era, which is going to be a much bigger test for a government that hasn't had to be too worried about the opposition front bench for a few years.

Blunt. And correct. Absolutely nothing else is carrying on as usual, so the UK continuing to stick to this one deadline is irresponsible.
Sure, contacts are continuing. But I started to annotate the EU's draft text yesterday, and just in the first 40-odd pages there are fundamental policy choices to be made - on the ECHR, ECJ, competition rules, state aid, states owned enterprises.
And that's not just about a UK-EU deal. All trade deals involve fundamental choices. Decide on the approach, discuss exactly how you want to be bound by treaty. Consider your own interests. The EU's 400 page draft still has huge holes.

Apart from these countries coronavirus was handled perfectly. Except obviously China suppressing the news. Brazil and Russia denying it. Japan thinking the Olympics would still go on. And so on. politico.eu/article/corona…
There aren't too many countries in a position to lecture others about handling this outbreak. Many inquiries will be held and books written. But perhaps until then we could focus on handling the continuing crisis rather than bickering about past failures?

I remain puzzled about how different countries will be able to successfully come out of coronavirus lockdown without cooperation, unless all travel into and out of countries is prohibited, or there is dramatic progress on the medical side with treatment.
Similarly any vaccine for coronavirus must presumably be global, in which case the logistics of production and distribution are going to be vast.
Seems like no countries really want to talk about global cooperation in this crisis, but ultimately they will be forced to do so otherwise it continues longer and costs more.
