(NOTE) On the downturn in new cases today: this isn't the first time—not even the first time in the last 15 days—we've seen a new-case drop on a weekend. On Saturday, March 21, new cases were 14% lower than the day before. Today may end up about that percent lower than yesterday.
(PS) I mention this because Trump began today's presser hyping up today's new-case drop like we hadn't seen one since the beginning of the outbreak—a lie—and then followed it up by implying we were seeing the beginning of a downward trend in hospitalization rates (*another* lie).
(PS2) Many of us are trying to amplify accurate data during this outbreak—*and* to underscore how horrifying the accurate data is. Because as the NEW YORK TIMES pointed out today, this emphasizes to government and citizens how seriously we must take this. Trump does the opposite.
