We should wish Boris Johnson a swift recovery, while continuing to expose and criticise his government's failures on the pandemic and other issues.
Scrutiny is never more necessary than at moments of crisis.
People are dying, today, because of a lack of sufficient scrutiny and exposure of the government's failures to stop major events, such as the Cheltenham Gold Cup, impose the lockdown on time and source sufficient PPE.
I'm still furious about the journalists who praised the government's herd immunity strategy, on the grounds that it was "taking scientific advice", as if taking scientific advice was some kind of revolution.

While failing to ask whether it was the right scientific advice.
As @tatianalujanr reminds us, the herd immunity strategy was facilitated by herd journalism.
If you want good public health, you need a healthy political culture.
That means scrutiny, criticism and debate.
All essential elements of democracy.
And never more necessary than during a crisis.
