I dislike most public apologies because they imply the person has changed overnight, which isn't true. But in all honesty, I tweeted it because there will never be a time when I don't focus on the facts that affect EVERYONE's lives, BUT I completely failed to be at all sensitive.
The news doing what News is MEANT to do:
Highlight the political consequences of Johnson's absence, including the problems with Dominic Raab as replacement.
So while I am sorry for insensitivity, I'm also sorry to those who expect me to highlight these things (for deleting it).
My internal compass on this sort of thing (e.g. the notion of too soon) is crap. So I often rely on others to guide me. I understand that the speed, brevity and tone of my tweet were the problem.

Can you imagine if the government had spent the last few years kitting out doctors and nurses with protective equipment instead of mass-buying fridges and portaloos for a No-Deal Brexit?

Simple question:
If... instead of having a government focused on Brexit the past 4 years, we'd had one that was mainly focused on supporting/improving the NHS... would the NHS have been in a better state in February?

So would we have coped with the Coronavirus better or worse?

The government has the tightest grip on our civil liberties it's ever had. We have to trust that what they're doing is necessary and they won't take advantage of a crisis to erode our human rights long term.
That's why with Dominic Raab as acting PM, we ALL must be very vigilant.
I'll let him defend his comments first, then move on to his voting record.
He says he believes strongly in civil liberties, but that economic and social rights shouldn't be legally enforceable.
The whole point of human rights is to protect people from abusive/cruel governments.
That's why Human Rights are best at the international level, so basic rights don't go on the chopping block every 5 yrs.
The Human Rights Act & EU Charter of Fundamental Rights are examples of international human rights standards.
Raab voted against both.
