Given the largesse recently of many US billionaires, I have decided to follow suit by donating 0.03% of my disposable income to fight COVID19 as long as some Gov fund will recompense me in some way .... the response of the wealthy to COVID19 is generally pathetic.
... in contrast, the response of the not so wealthy ... from nurses, healthcare workers, retired medical folk, emergency services, deliveries to ... a long long list .... has been exceptional, heroic, legendary and spectacular.
After we get through this pandemic, I suspect we're going to need to have a discussion on redistribution ... not a minor one but a major one. Society doesn't owe any individual anything and it's perfectly entitled to take away from the few in order to benefit the common good.
... and I'm afraid, it's quite clear that on the whole the wealthy have not been overwhelmingly acting in the interests of the common good or society.

Oh, and isolating yourself on a yacht or private island whilst laying off staff does not count as "doing your bit".
