In the last 24 hours, we have confirmed 25 new COVID 19 cases, bringing our total to 1,373. Of these, 447 people have recovered. Of the 1,373 total cases, we suspect up to 199 may be community transmission. (1/7)
With only an increase of 25 new cases in the last 24 hours, it is important to note that numbers fluctuate from day-to-day and we should not place too much emphasis or try to predict trends on any given day’s figures. (2/7)
Despite the aggressive measures Alberta has implemented, we expect cases will continue to rise in the coming days and weeks. (3/7)
The number of people in hospital with #COVID19AB remains steady; 42 are currently in hospital and the number of patients currently in ICU is 15. There have been a total of 65,265 people tested for COVID-19 & a total of 67,117 tests performed by the lab. (4/7)
Sadly, we’ve had two more deaths, bringing Alberta’s total to 26. A man in his 60s from the Calgary zone and a man in his 90s who was a resident at Calgary's McKenzie Towne Continuing Care Centre. My deepest sympathies go out to their family and friends. (5/7)
Strong outbreak measures are in place at continuing care facilities; 135 cases have been confirmed at these facilities. Family & friends can no longer visit these facilities unless a resident is dying or the visitor is essential for care that can't be delivered by staff. (6/7)
We all need to keep doing what we can to protect Albertans and limit the risk of spreading the virus. Stay home if you’re sick. Wash your hands. Help break the chain. (7/7)
