Here is a summary thread of today’s #COVID19AB public health date.

In the last 24 hours, we have confirmed 64 new cases of COVID-19, bringing Alberta’s total to 754. We suspect up to 75 of these are from community transmission. This is concerning. (1/8)
This also includes 77 cases involving healthcare workers, including staff in continuing care facilities. Most were returning travellers or participants at a bonspiel, and didn’t acquire the virus while providing care. (2/8)
Sadly, there was an additional death reported in Calgary Zone at McKenzie Towne Long-Term Care. I convey my condolences to this person’s family. These outbreaks remain worrisome. Seniors are at greatest risk of severe illness related to COVID-19. (3/8)
Yesterday I said a man died at Edmonton’s Rosedale facility. In fact, he passed in hospital. He lived independently and hadn’t been at Rosedale since March 17. No other resident or Rosedale staff has been identified as having COVID-19. (4/8)
I also said Edmonton's Shepherd’s Care Kensington had 6 active COVID-19 cases. This was inaccurate. Their number remains at 4, as previously reported.

We corrected this in published information immediately to ensure Albertans receive accurate information. (5/8)
Alberta Health is tracking outbreaks in McKenzie Towne Long-Term Care & Carewest Glenmore Park Centre in Calgary Zone, & Shepherd’s Care Kensington in Edmonton Zone. I’ll update confirmed cases tomorrow to ensure our information is accurate. (6/8)
Following public health orders does not mean we can’t continue to support each other or help the most vulnerable. I encourage healthy Albertans to give of their time where possible and with proper attention to physical distancing and hygiene requirements. (7/8)
Please reach out to friends, family and neighbours who may be struggling. Even small gestures can go a long way.

We’re all in this together. (8/8)
