Hart Island becomes the place where bodies are stored after not being claimed in hospitals overrun by deaths from the Coronavirus (COVID-19). These burials usually happen only once a week but are taking place daily now. reuters.com/article/health… 
In the past this solemn duty was performed by inmates from Rikers but now it is a group of contractors who work to give these poor souls a dignified resting place.
The video footage shot today gives a sobering sense of scale to the scene. It brings home that the expenses of a funeral in this time could be a serious for a lot of families going through what New York is experiencing.
