Here is a summary thread of today’s #COVID19AB public health update. In the last 24 hours, we confirmed 28 new cases of COVID-19 in Alberta, bringing our total to 1,451. We suspect 192 cases may be from community transmission. (1/7)
592 people have recovered from the virus, an increase of 74. We have completed 1,333 tests over the last 24 hours. Since expanding our criteria yesterday, more people accessed our assessment centre. We expect to see an increase in testing numbers in the coming days. (2/7)
I am sad to report there were 3 more deaths related to COVID-19: a woman in her 80s and a woman in her 60s, both in Calgary Zone, and a man in his 70s in Edmonton Zone. I extend my sympathies to their family and friends. (3/7)
One of these deaths was linked to a continuing care outbreak in Calgary. With 151 cases in continuing care facilities, it is so important to follow restrictions and not visit loved ones in these facilities. I know it’s difficult, especially during this Easter weekend. (4/7)
We tightened restrictions last week to protect these most vulnerable people. I ask you to find other ways to stay in touch with those who reside in continuing care facilities because we need to do our best to keep them safe from COVID-19. (5/7)
I want to thank health care workers and those on the front line, and those who provide essential services, like grocery store workers and bus drivers. Thank you also to all of you who are doing your best to make the sacrifices necessary to keep everyone safe. (6/7)
As we head into the long weekend, I hope we can all look at what we can do to protect ourselves and those around us.

✅If you are feeling ill, stay home.
✅Practice physical distancing.
✅Continue practicing good hygiene by frequently washing your hands. (7/7)
