Trump just said at his daily briefing, “Be nice, it’s Good Friday.” He has no idea why this is called Good Friday. It’s because Jesus would not turn away from love, truth, and justice—even in face of crucifixion. To honor Good Friday is to stay with love, truth, and justice.
On Good Friday, Trump just lied again and tried to wash his hands of responsibility. That’s not the spirit of Good Friday, Mr. Trump.
Trump just lied again. He said there’s not an issue with testing. Hmmm ... Not good on Good Friday.

This argument b/w Trump & state governors is tricky. Let’s remember, states’ rights was the argument of segregationists & slaveholders. So the discussion must be handled carefully.
But the president is not an absolute power. We, the people, have the power. All power is derived from the people to be used for the good of the whole.
The president cannot use whatever power the office has to undermine equal protection under the law for all people. There is nothing in our Constitution that says we do things merely for business interest.

On March 27, @Pontifex delivered an extraordinary Urbi et Orbi blessing while praying for an end to the coronavirus: “... we were not shaken awake by wars or injustice across the world, nor did we listen to the cry of the poor or of our ailing planet.
"We carried on regardless, thinking we would stay healthy in a world that was sick. … Lord, you are calling to us, calling us to faith. … You are calling on us to seize this time of trial as a time of choosing. It is not the time of your judgement, but of our judgement:
a time to choose what matters and what passes away, a time to separate what is necessary from what is not.”

Amen.

What is necessary for us to choose now—& should have done before #COVID19—is a new world w/ health care, living wages & justice for all.

The @Surgeon_General just wrongfully used the @NAACP to justify his language about black people needing to stop tobacco, alcohol, and drug use as key to not getting the coronovirus ...
while he refused to address the structural realities and racial disparities in health care, wages, etc. that predispose our communities to this virus.
Trump then bragged that he has done more for African Americans. Their attempt to try and use the @NAACP is just wrong.
