The official line on Monday and Tuesday was that Johnson was transferred to intensive care as a precaution.
Always the sense with this government that the message and the reality are not well joined up, and the message comes first. Probably a winning strategy politically, but not what you want in effectively managing a crisis.
It seems for example that Conservative MPs have been encouraged to attack Keir Starmer tonight, suggesting he is attacking the NHS. He clearly wasn't (NHS England / The Government), but politics is a contact sport, and message over substance.
