Spoke with my friend yesterday on the unsustainable healthcare subsidy and pricing issue in Nigeria. We can't ignore the fact that the Nigerian in terms of value for money paid for healthcare, is offering the most for its citizens compared to other parts of Sub Saharan Africa.
A GP consultation with limited number of hours in UCH costs less that $3, seeing a consultant in UCH on the average costs N2,000 = $6 at the point of use.
Please show me any country in Africa, Asia and Europe that charges these fees to see the calibre of specialist we have.
When you go to a govt hospital in Nigeria, have it at the back of your mind that the govt is paying for the consultation on your behalf and also giving you up to 400% subsidy.

Each time you visit a govt hospital, the govt is simply giving you money to pay for your healthcare.

Let me explain the dynamics of this #COVID19 and the consequences of this stupid act. It is shameful that the people who are comfortable, whose lives do not depend on daily income are the ones flouting this directive while those who need to survive on a daily basis are at home.
The people who need to survive on daily stipends are groaning at home but Toyota camry and two bedroom flat gang are jogging and exercising in their cheap sneakers and gym clothes.

The disease has a low mortality rate but a very high attack rate.
It is capable of infecting 100s of thousands of people in few hours if the necessary precautions are not taken. Ranging from the asymptomatic to those with severe symptoms. The health system will be overwhelmed eventually. No bed space, no consumables, no doctors.

Learnt a lot yesterday from reading about military operations, coups, civil unrest, procurement of arms in Nigeria and Africa. I also spoke to few of my friends at the frontline. Our contribution to the ECOMOG ops in Liberia & Sierra Leone (west Africa) Troops & field commanders
The formation of Multinational Joint Task force by in 1994, by Sani Abacha to counter bandits in our northern borders.
It's is also obvious that there was a deliberate effort by Nigeria to focus on regime stability during the period.
Some of our past military leaders felt that stockpiling arms for the military was a threat in a region that was notorious for coups. IBB decommissioned a lot of equipment, many officers were killed on account of coup or retired.
