Hey, everyone - couple of quick thoughts about the severe threat around these parts.

Not much to say that hasn’t already been said - Storms are likely early tomorrow morning through midday. Can’t rule out something squirrelly overnight, too.

Bottom line: It’ll be active.

1/
Biggest threat will be damaging winds. Even what would normally be a garden-variety shower will be able to tap into winds and bring them to the surface.

Storms could also develop tornadoes, and unfortunately, the potential is for them to be strong.

2/
Even so, this event is one where you should treat severe thunderstorm warnings like you would a tornado warning. The stronger storms will be able to produce winds stronger than a weak tornado.

3/
So, what do we do about this? We know what to do:

- ID your safe place (lowest floor, interior room, no windows)
- have multiple ways to get warnings (if it doesn’t wake you up it doesn’t count)
- charge up all your devices so if power goes out you still get info

4/
At this point, try to get some sleep. We’ve got a few hours yet before anything happens. Just make sure your warning methods - weather radio, phone apps, etc. - are all set to make noise and wake you up if they need to. NWS & others are on top of this.

5/
I plan on sleeping in my normal spot tonight, but if you’ll sleep better in your safe spot, go for it. No shame in taking the extra step.

If you live in a mobile home, make sure sturdier structure is close and open. You may need it in a hurry.

6/
Say a prayer for the folks in the Deep South who’ve already been hit. And for all the folks working to help keep us safe and who will help to set things right after it’s over: NWS, TV & other mets, emergency managers, first responders, etc.

7/
We’ll get through this round of storms as we have in the past. Heed the warnings!

Be smart and stay safe. Have a good night.
