So of course @nabeelahali got started on her very first day pushing a bug fix for HEY 😍👏 . Having an onboard sequence that lets people be productive right from the get-go is a goal worth striving for.

Remember getting Spaceballs - State of the Art on a 3.5" diskette and just playing that demo over and over again in 1992. This ran on a 7mhz processor!!
The following year I went to The Party 3 in Aars, as a 14 year-old kid, by myself. I saw Desert Dream on the big screen. I met Allan Odgaard and a bunch of other demoscene folks from DK that would be my core group of friends for years. ❤️

Speaking of security: You're not going to be able to pay for hey.com without setting up two-factor authentication. We'll let you kick the tires on a trial without, but when you commit, you commit securely. Email remains the skeleton key for your online life.
There's friction there! Lots of people still haven't gotten familiar with a password manager, let alone two-factor authentication. But that's the work we're interested in: Leveling up your habits and practices.
Instead of always chasing the erasure of friction, it's worth thinking about how friction can help people slow down when they actually need to slow down! Security is a great reason to slow down. Saving a click but losing an account is no bueno.

You can actually see the forces of cognitive dissonance clash when people who use or sell spy pixels also have to assert to themselves how much they really do care about privacy. It’s quite the fireworks!
But through that pain comes progress. When the mind fails to find grip in its old justifications, new insights and ethics are born. It’s difficult to change, and it really happens without pressure.
