Remember getting Spaceballs - State of the Art on a 3.5" diskette and just playing that demo over and over again in 1992. This ran on a 7mhz processor!!
The following year I went to The Party 3 in Aars, as a 14 year-old kid, by myself. I saw Desert Dream on the big screen. I met Allan Odgaard and a bunch of other demoscene folks from DK that would be my core group of friends for years. ❤️

Doing computers for the love of it, rather than for the commerce of it, shaped an entire worldview that carried directly into open source. Even the concept of charging for Ruby on Rails seemed deeply offensive to me, and I place a lot of that with those demoscene roots.
