.@BernieSanders makes it official: it's all-in-together: Democratic and progressive political leaders and Never-Trump Republicans will combine to try and remove Donald Trump from the presidency. Trump will have his hardcores, refusers & whatever foreign gov'ts care to help him.
That said, this is not a time for arrogance in the Biden camp. Voters will have to overcome the fear of lining up plus what will surely be historic voter suppression, foreign (again if Russia still bothers) and especially domestic, plus a deliberately GOP-crippled postal service.
Biden will have to give people a reason to take that risk, even given the stakes (four more years of this combination reality show-horror show). And he would be wise to start thinking through compromises on dramatically expanding healthcare access and consumer debt relief.
Because when this madness finally ends -- and it WILL end -- this country is going to have to be rebuilt economically, socially and emotionally on a scale we haven't seen since the post-Depression era. 2008 will turn out to be dress-rehearsal for what Biden would have to do.
These deep inequalities: the yawning racial disparity in healthcare access and morbidity, voter suppression that's so easily exacerbated in a crisis, the crippled postal service, defenseless private company workers & hospitals and these bidding wars between states are scandalous.
I think it's been made abundantly clear that Donald Trump doesn't know what to do, because what he caraes about most, or maybe ONLY, is the Dow, who is being nice to him and praising him and who's not, and how to get to stay in office at all costs. So for now, we're on our own.
And this level of death is just staggering and unbearable. The aloneness for so many people is unbearable. All of it is. But gotta say it's a relief to not also have to think about a political fight on the resister side amid all of this. Thank you @BernieSanders for that.
