Trump clearly ran for president thinking this was true: that he could acquire omnipotent power, money, respect and adoration by having the office. It's why he was willing to do anything including taking Russian help to get it. He dreamed of becoming an American Putin.
He saw how much most people including Hollywood, musicians and artists loved President Obama and fumed. But once the Electoral College and Russian games gave him the office, he soon found out differently. Republican power lust and demographic fear gives him huge FEDERAL leeway.
But respect and love are not something you can command. People love @BarackObama not because they were forced to by his power but bc he was a popularly elected, decent, compassionate and good man. Hollywood, fashion, the arts etc adore @MichelleObama because she is lovely & kind.
Meanwhile what power Trump DOES have access to, which he could have used and could still use to save lives and stop this awful, excruciating mass death, he refuses to use. He refuses to ensure there are enough PPE and ventilators for the states. He refuses to listen to science.
He refuses to adhere to even the basic social norms of displaying compassion for the sick and the dead. And yet daily -- relentlessly-- he whines and demands the respect and adoration he so plainly craves. All he does is whine. While people keep dying.
America was warned over and over again that this man was not fit to be president. Most Americans listened, and voted to elect a competent woman. But the electoral college, Republicans and Russia overruled us. So no, @realDonaldTrump, you don't get unearned love and adoration. NO.
Your authority is NOT total. You are not a king. You're not even a decent governor: they are all outdoing you. This is still a democracy. Just do your job please so more people don't have to die and we'll trust the decent governors -- those you haven't captured -- to do the rest.
