Shall compile my running thoughts about #Kurukshetra as I compile the numbers in this #thread.
There are three kinds of confrontations - I am terming them 1. duel = One to one
2. general battle = many vs many
3. and cumulative = one against many
Deciding the victor in a duel if the opponent is killed or is forced to flee or is carried away by a friend of his or is spared by the victor.
#Kurukshetra
Number crunched #Kurukshetra till Day 11
188 Confrontations of all kinds
46 in favour of Pandavas
28 in favour of Kauravas
Rest are inconclusive
The number of inconclusive confrontations is rather a bit frustrating but natural for the early phase of a war
As the warrior numbers thin down, each confrontation would be forced towards a conclusion. Epic battle this one is! (I mean reading and believing so is something and realising it is something else)!
242 confrontations till Day 13
74 in favour of Pandavas
39 in favour of Kauravas
Rest inconclusive or not reported in the text.
Data crunching being done on Critical edition translated by Dr. @bibekdebroy
Abhimanyu has not lost a single battle until the last cumulative one he faced. And he faced many cumulative attacks till then 😭😭😭
Bhima too knows Divyasatras! He invokes Tvashtra on Day 14.
Another doubt.

Bhima faces off Karna on day 14. Once he beats him fair and square.
Next time, he almost beats Karna (like breaks bow, chariot, kills horses) and a Kaurava brother comes to give Karna relief. Bhima kills that brother and again fights Karna. It repeats till+
Totally five times, Bhima dominates and there is a host of Kauravas coming to rescue Karna. He kills them all. Only the sixth time, Karna wins over Bhima.
Should I record as 1 duel gone in favour of Karna or 6 duels where 5 go to Bhima and last one goes to Karna?
Advice pls
125 confrontations only on Day 14!! Including the night battle that is!
Ramachandra Prabhu!
Day 17 morning is super messy! Everyone is attacking everyone.
I am tempted to put it all into one large general battle.
Shalya showed better leadership than Karna. Even if for half a day. The Armies are so united and give a tough last mile to the Pandavas. Possibly he might have done it better than even Drona???
cc @sri9011 @arnab_epic
Done with 'excel'ing
459 confrontations over 18 days
216 in favour of Pandavas
91 in favour of Kauravas
152 with either no recorded result or draws
#Kurukshetra
OMG!!!!
The warrior who faced maximum Divyastras in a single duel AND counteracted them..... Any guesses?
It is Yudhishtira (By the mentioning of the variety).
He faces and counteracts Drona's
Vaaruna
Yamya
Agneya
Savitr
Tvashtra
Aindra
Prajapatya
Brahma astras with his own!
This is just by the mentions.
We don't know if Satyaki or Arjuna faced more but Sanjaya did not detail it.
This pie is dedicated to @NileshOak ji :D Victory pie of Pandavas Image
Upon popular demand, pasting popular warrior performances from both sides Image

Will try to share about Author and Book marketing today.

Who among us wouldnt like those thousands and millions of sales and some promising advances?

We also know that brandong of that scale costs a lot of money. Yes, it does.

What I shall share+
+today is not a secret to become an overnight bestseller but the stuff needed to make a life as an author.

Whats needed to make an impact on readers from a fundamental perspective?

1. A great cover (assuming you have already written a nice book).

A book cover must convey+
+the genre and set expectations. It is a visual shout out to the genre readers.

It needs to say, "you cant call your self a reader of this genre if you havent read me."

It should stick out of its peer group on Amazon, compel a store guy to display the book right at the front+

Srimatre NamaH

Attempting a thread on the Hindu fasting on Ekadashi.
I did see a couple of interactions over this topic.

Confession : I am only a couple of Ekadashis old in the fasting zone. Never fasted much before.

So I connect to the skeptic's doubts here. Read on.
My knowledge of what I am going to write is taken mostly from my Guru ji's interactions and some other pravachanas.

In Srividya, the fifteen tithis of a fortnight have fifteen tithi nitya devis, each presiding over a tithi.

On Ekadashi, the Devi is Neela pataaka - नीलापताका
नीलापताका or the one with a blue banner. A banner signifies victory. And blue signifies the endless space. Devi नीलापताका helps us fight the impossible.

Ekadashi, the tithi that comes after the first ten days also symbolises the ten Indriyas (5 sense organs and 5 limbs)+

Whether one is a supporter of Varna vyavastha or a critic, the reading and understanding of Varna system has to be done along with Ashrama and Purushartha.
Without those two, the comprehension of Varna system is dangerously half baked.

#ReadingRajadharmaparva
Most of the online supporters of Varna system are too afraid of Ashrama discussions because it calls for a daunting amount of rigour in practising.

And most critics done even understand the badics if Purusharthas and keep barking "brahminical patriarchy" at every unrelated event

#MondayGyanforCreatives - Author Income

Sharing the bits I know about Author Income that eventually becomes a point of discussion in writer circles.
How much do authors earn?
When can I grow enough to become a Rowling or a Stephen King or an Amish?

Coming to Basics+
Traditionally published newbie authors start at around 8% royalty. That is, sale of a book priced Rs. 300 at full price fetches the author Rs. 24

If your monthly sustenance budget is say Rs. 50,000, you need to sell 2084 copies that month (and at full price) ++
Needless to say, selling that many copies needs a marketing investment where the returns are way too iffy. So,
*One book out there cannot sustain an author.*

Even in Self published cases where the royalty is supposedly 70% (Amazon KDP), the competitive pricing and lack of+

Shamika ji, you are doing a great job narrating Mahabharata to your son.

And it is a common issue with first time listeners.

IMHO, when a kid starts feeling strongly for Karna over the Pandavas, there is something slightly off about our way of narrating. Sorry if I am blunt
Karna, though 'abandoned', enjoyed the love of his foster household.
The Pandavas lost their father and were in a hostile household where they did not know how and when the next murder attempt will be made on them.
It is natural for Kunti to feel more protective for Pandavas.
On the day of Snatakotsava,
Karna was given full permission to display his skills and was cheered by the public too

He was only questioned when he sought a duel with Arjuna and also declared that he could kill him. That is when he was made the king of Anga by Duryodhana.

Those who decry Goddess worship in the name of crimes against women....

Their real objective is for the worship to stop and crimes to continue.

Otherwise they would take the opportunity to promote Goddess worship in order yo discourage crime.
#Navaratri
Remember, India is the only place and Hinduism is the only civilisation that has Devi worship.

It is considered satanical by some misogynist religions. The so called progressives stand with religious misogyny today and are trying to guilt this very population+
+who took to streets after the horrific Norbhaya incident.

They are the same tribe that asks for mercy petition for rapists.

They are those who celebrate Mahishasura as some leader and call our Durga a prostitute.

They celebrate crime in this country. They celebrate peril.
