Yeah. Even now Alien is a stone cold bloody masterpiece. Decades later and it doesn't feel the least bit dated. Proper down-in-your-guts horror.
I love Aliens. But you never get back to that biological terror Alien gives you. Like a kinda primordial, base-of-the-brain fear of shit getting inside you.
It's funny how closely Aliens tracks with Terminator 2. The scene of Ripley in the boardroom bring ignored is almost identical to Sarah Conner in the hospital.
James Cameron is given a lot of shit but he's way ahead of his time. He treats his female characters with respect. They're pretty much never perved over. They're good with guns, but they're not generic badass female action hero. They're caring but they take no shit.
