X : Who is X?
Me : Everyone and no-one. It's not a single person, it's an amalgam of conversations (often multiple) that I have had. It's simply a way of repeating a conversation without creating a fake persona by being clear it's not anyone.
X : Fake persona?
Me : It's quite common to see people creating a whole bunch of fake twitter accounts and then have a "conversation" with them in order to prove some point which is normally how wonderful they are or some other self - sycophantic / self adulation gone mad.
X : You can be a real ass sometimes.

Me : Thanks Dad.
X : Was that really your mother?
Me : No, that's the point, X is not anyone. Oh, and yes I can be a real ass sometimes.

Just over an hour to go until my session on the ways and means of industrialisation - leadingedgeforum.com/events/the-way… - usual mix of excitement and catastrophic nerves.
X : What are you going to cover in the session?
Me : Learning lessons from the past and applying them forward.
X : I thought you weren't interested in the past?
Me : I am if I can learn and use patterns from it which basically means ... someone mapped it.
... I find maps really to start to shine when you get into the habit of using them for pre-mortems and then post event you analyse using the same map in the post-mortem.

Me : No.
.... I'm not interested in the past, unless we're talking past maps and patterns I can learn from. I don't care who did what. We had some good people that had a positive impact but messed up in some areas, were overthrown in part by the system but also changed it for the better.
That battle still continues, it will continue forever and was going on long before GDS / Spend control appeared. It's a constant thing which occasionally the spotlight shines upon.
