I am deeply grateful to twipple for the interest shown in the exodus of Bengali Hindus from East Pakistan/Bangladesh from Islamic persecution. Also about my book. Two modifications: there are a few (4/5) books on the subject written before me,but they @KanchanGupta
are all in Bengali. There is an incomplete book in English by A J Kamra. And there is a plethora of books,mostly in Bengali,also films,on the East Bengal refugees-but they all begin after the refugees have landed in India. Practically nothing on what they suffered in E Pakistan
For those who read Bengali: one of those few books is ‘Pak-Bharater Ruprekha’ by Prabhas Chandra Lahiri. It is unavailable in print but some kind soul has uploaded it. Just one scene: one Mr Mukherjee,a gentleman running a tutorial home in Dhaka was hacked with an axe in Feb 1950

In the wake of the Corona epidemic some new offences,hitherto unknown,are being committed. Central and State governments ought to promulgate ordinances rendering these offences punishable,cognizable,non-bailable and non-compoundable. A list of such offences below:
1. Calling such
conferences,gatherings,etc as would make it impossible to maintain social distancing among participants.
2. Exhorting people (by whatever means,with whatever enticements) to defeat social distancing
3. Not quarantining oneself as soon as one has reasons to suspect that one might
have been infected by the virus.
4. Knowingly or unknowingly engaging in any act that might reasonably cause spreading of the virus.
5. Harrassing a person engaged in the fight against the virus,such as asking him or her to leave the premises,no matter what the apprehension may

Last evening ABP’s Bangla channel Ananda ran a debate on the efficacy of GOMUTRA. Fine. Now I’d like to see them run a debate on PURDAH,BURQA or HIJAB. Which are another set of names for imprisoning half of humanity inside moving black tents.

Some seem upset that I had suggested ABP Ananda hold a debate on Purdah,Burqa or Hijab. I wonder why? For instance,it could be validly argued that the piece covering the mouth was equivalent to today’s ubiquitous mask,legislated by divine apprehension of the pandemic!
