Not passing a national moratorium on rent & mortgage payments along with a monthly basic-income program during a global pandemic that has shut down large parts of the economy is ideological cruelty & bad economics. 1/6
10s of millions have already lost their jobs. It is estimated that unemployment will peak higher than the worst months of the Great Depression.

Not only would these policies help alleviate unnecessary suffering & anxiety, they would also help prevent an economic death cycle. 2/6

Systemic shocks, like the global pandemic we are currently enduring, are often used to consolidate power by the already powerful.

But as new cracks break open the cheap veneer of capitalist propaganda, they also open up an opportunity for radical consciousness-raising. 1/11
Façades are crumbling. The pandemic is exposing layers of inherent structural injustice, a loudmouth president openly boasts of cronyism & bribery, undemocratic institutions in every aspect of society thwart real democracy, & the ‘lungs of the planet’ continue to burn. 2/11
It’s not that the structural injustice & violence of capitalism, imperialism, racism, sexism, homophobia & transphobia were not always there. They were.

But like ammonia shocking the consciousness out of the unconscious, ‘the pandemic is a portal.’ 3/11

I’m not sure how else to say this.

The biggest & most consequential mistake of Sanders’ 2020 campaign is happening *right now*: the leadership not decoupling the #NotMeUs movement from electoral politics & diversifying its tactics with civil disobedience, strikes etc. 1/7
Sanders promised to be ‘Organizer in Chief.’

The movement to elect Sanders has the potential to be one of the largest, most diverse, passionate, & powerful movements in US history.

You don't have to be president to be ‘Organizer in Chief.’ 2/7
Taking the wind out of our own sail, deflating the energy, commitment & excitement of this movement is grabbing defeat from the jaws of victory.

Allowing #NotMeUs to fizzle away is giving away our *true* power to effect change. 3/7
