1. quick thread on how Trump continues to impose his will onto timid DC media — and he's been doing it since summer of 2015; pressrun.media/p/abc-cnn-new-…
2. the no-brainer journalism decision weeks ago was to stop airing briefings. But when it comes to Trump, media constantly bows down. creates new rules just for him.
3. ex: when Obama president, WH press briefings were virtually never aired live. the *day* Trump inaugurated, suddenly every WH briefing was aired live, entirety.
4. today, more news reporters concede Trump briefings aren't news, yet the TV nets refuse to make the obvious, easy call simply bc it's Trump and he always gets special treatment.

compared to Tea Party rallies, where Fox hosts showed up in-person, the network has taken hands-off approach to "reopen" rallies, most likely because staffers don't want to be infected with the deadly virus from activists who refuse to adhere to social distancing guidelines

halfway through article NYT concedes right-wing protests draw small crowds “in the hundreds”

NYT runs story on the front page anyway
this is same NYT that during run-up to Iraq War famously ran story on **massive** anti-war rally on pg 14 of Metro section
fun fact: NYT ran two articles on the protests today. combined, 11 conservatives were quoted vs 2 liberals.
