NEW: I've been told by both the Scottish and Welsh governments that they will not be making changes to their PPE guidance, because both have adequate gown stocks. The new PPE guidance, where items can be reused if stocks run low/out, will therefore only be in place in England.
Scottish govt spokesperson: "PPE guidance has not changed in Scotland. WE are absolutely determined that all our hard-working healthcare staff get the right PPE to keep them safe. We currently have adequate supplies of all forms of PPE for the current level of demand."
Welsh govt spokesperson: "The Welsh govt is keen to reassure everyone it has PPE stock and we currently do not anticipate any disruption to supply. We therefore do not expect this alert to be enacted in Wales at the present time."

Doctor on Covid ward in midlands: ‘they just change the PPE guidance based on what they have in storage, not what will keep us safe.’ A doctor on Covid war in the NW said that NHS staff ‘had suspicions we should have been using higher PPE all along’ but that it just didn’t exist.
