FACTS about Mother Teresa.

Kindly note am not trying to besmirch her.

I am fully aware that she was canonized in 2016 and she is immensely loved by those who subscribe to the Roman Catholic Faith.
Mother Teresa's is fondly referred to as the St. Teresa of Calcutta, also called St.Mother Teresa whose original name s Agnes Gonxha Bojaxhiu.

She's the founder of the Order of the Missionaries of Charity,a Roman Catholic order of women dedicated to the poor and the destitute.
In 1946 she experienced her “call within a call,” which she considered divine inspiration to devote herself to caring for the sick and poor and then moved into the slums to live with the poor.
NOW...although she displayed cheerfulness and a deep commitment to God in her daily work, she admitted that she did not feel God’s presence in her soul during the last 50 years of her life. She felt that Jesus had abandoned her at the start of her order mission.
While comments and praises made on Mother Teresa continue to attract widespread criticism,LET US take a look at other controversies surrounding her.

Mother Teresa's work and life has been subjected to intense scrutiny, judgement and criticism
While she was lauded for founding the Missionaries of Charity that ran hospices and homes for people with HIV/AIDS, leprosy and tuberculosis,a lot of the criticisms have always leveled against her.
The Saint of Calcutta used to embrace and idolize a life of suffering and poverty.

She indeed affirmed this when she said,"I think it is very beautiful for the poor to accept their lot.I think the world is being much helped by the suffering of the poor people" ....
She believed the sick and those in pain needed no painkillers but only God.

While her patients suffered from the lack of pain-relieving and pain-combating medical support in her organisations, she herself would check into expensive and sophisticated hospitals in the west.
At her Kalighat Home for the Dying-a place where people could come to die in dignity and comfort, the medical care provided was very poor. Most of the volunteers had no medical knowledge yet used to make medical decisions because there were no doctors available.
At her hospice, there was no distinction made between those who were suffering from curable and incurable illnesses so people who might have survived had they been given access to treatment were left to die.
Needles were re-used so many times that they became blunt and they were not sterilized between uses and when challenged she said it was something beautiful to see the poor accept their state and suffer just like Jesus Christ.
Mother Teresa promoted this suffering as she felt that it was of benefit to suffer in this world for a better life in heaven. She used to tell those dying in pain that they were suffering because 'Jesus was kissing them’.
Her Missionaries of Charity operated in Calcutta where the majority of people were Hindu or Muslims. She admitted she gave the dying some rituals as a special ‘Ticket to St Peter’ by baptizing them against their faith because they were incapable of making a rational decisions.
She received significant donations from Charles Keating, who was convicted and imprisoned for fraud when his Savings and Loan Association collapsed leaving 23K investors with worthless bonds and from Robert Maxwell who stole £450m from the pension fund of his employees.
So was Mother Teresa a Saint or was she a public relations specialist who used her status as a charitable icon to travel the world, rubbing shoulders with elites and pushing her own beliefs on abortion, contraception and spread Catholicism?
