My 18 yo son Zach was listening to me talk to scientists, national security people, governors & members of Congress about COVID-19. “Dad, we should start a podcast,” he said.

COVID Update April 20: The next narrative will be one of the states vs the federal government & who has responsibility for testing.

The Hill, governors, WH, testing cos. I got a little of everyone’s opinion.

Will also cover the overall state of things, the Senate bill, the disability community & other learnings of the day. 2/
OVERALL: NY is slowly flattening but things are precarious.

States that haven’t been touched will without significant social distancing & containment. So they will have later peaks. Why? No human has natural immunity.

We are flattening the curve not stopping it. 3/

NEW- CONGRESSIONAL UPDATE: It seems like CARES 2 is likely to get done this week. Although much could change or derail things, $450 billion appears to be the total: 3/4 for small business, the rest for hospitals & for increased testing.

Long way to go but this is needed. 1/
There are additional priorities that need to get funded.
-Health care workforce protection
-Public health workforce to contain the disease
-Health CSRs coverage
-Extending financial protections & SNAP

Even if CARES 2 passes, we need to keep working on those priorities. 2/
Care corrects to CSR if you’re curious what the heck I’m talking about.
